H2O/Meth injection results

I just got a Ecutek tune from jason at Mynes. He's the best, but that's another thread.
He tuned me the best he could on just 91 octane. Boost was at 20psi. The most timing he could get was 15deg, but it maxed around 13deg when it was hot.
I was putting down 302hp/277lb tq.
Then I turned on my Coolingmist set-up. I'm running 50/50 distilled H2O and Methanol. I have a 150psi pump at his 4.9 nozzle (which is about 6.2 gal/hr with 150 pump). It works out to be about 15% (meth.water) to 85% fuel.
So, without changing anything, timing jumped to 20deg, no big change in HP/TQ yet due to it running pretty rich now.
I cranked up the boost to 25psi (tapering to 19 at redline), he leaned it out and BAMMM: 340hp/335lb tq.
Still on a conservative tune. afr were at 10.9 at redline. No hint of knock.
Just pulled like a frieght train.
So injection to me is worth: 38hp/58lb tq!! That's alot of torque to gain.
I'm sure I would get more if my 9.8 stock turbo could push it.

oh,...then I almost got arrested on the way home: 105 in a 65.

Congrats Bishiboy

I am sure that wil be more to come when you go for a leaner tune. Free power !!!
Seriously consider a "plan B" soon.

Who would ever consider this type of tune a few years ago???

The 15 degs was at redline.
I had 9 or 10 at peak torque.
After WI, I had 20 degs at redline and 12-14degs at peak tq, (we made several pulls).

Richard,
I've been reading about injection for almost two years.
I got the most information from your forums on Auqamist.co.uk.
I talked with Al (Dynoflash) over year ago about it and he said it was **** and to stay with a decent tune. Then Buschur found the benifits from an SMC kit.
Now WI/alcohol injection is all the rage.
I knew from reading about it two years ago that it was what turbo cars needed.
It's the next best thing to running race gas all the time.

LOL, I agree. I've been playing around with water injection for several years myself. I experimented alot with my Eagle Talon and got some pretty good results. I first experimented with a primitive Edelbrock Vara Injection kit back in the 80's with my carbureted V-8 Nova. I also had negative feedback from Al when I mentioned water injection to him back over a year ago also. Now it's Alky this and Alky that or "Meth". It's become cool just to say it !! I've always known that water injection works and it's the only way to get decent performance out of my turbo in the land of 91 octane. I wish you the best of luck on getting the most power you can get. I'm going to keep playing around with my set up and hope to get some more power out of it.
