alky is less $, easier install, shorter install, not to mention between just these two mods an Alky Evo will destroy a cammed one, and not all Evos self destruct under boost when there is a problem with the alky kit. im not sayin that cams arent good a upgrade, im not sayin that cam arnt safer,but some people dont want the cars to idle in a way to let the world know your mods. theres no law saying u have to do certain mods in "this order only or else your screwed." Or you could think outside the box and do things your own way based on your own research. D Buscher sells and tunes alky kits on near stock Evos all the time. Finally the torque increase is amazing.

alcohol is the "cheaper" choice of the 2.
alot of people 1/2ass cam installs by getting all the necessary internals to SUPPORT them. then they wonder why they have "lifter tick" after 3 months...
