Don't know if it's the same case with you and your friend's but my SMC pump failed this year too. It failed gradually. Found out that it was the brand of Methanol that we have around here that caused the failure. Local methanol brands Rocketts Fuel/Allen Oils have some sort of lubricant additive that caused the seal in my methanol pump to swell up and eventually killed the pump.
I have, since the new pump, stuck to VP brand of Methanol and have no failure since.

Bumping for more info on the safeguards and system intergration. I have a innovate wideband so no zeitronix for me. Has anyone heard what the SMC safety features will be or when it will be available?

What about a failsafe for a situation I haven't seen here yet? Your pump malfunctions and continues to run when it should not be running. I read a post a while back about someone whose motor got flooded with alky due to a failure of constant ON.

Thanks.

Go with TTP meth kit, its a really good price and you will have no problems. Also get the zeitronix wideband for protection, this is the best way you can go, also prob the cheapest.
