**UPDATE**
I took the car to a very good Evo shop. They took the motor apart, and the rod that broke free was burned. The mechanic said that it looks like there was a problem with it before i bought it. Reason being is because the seal for the Oil pan was brand new. so it looks like they went under the block to half *** fix the problem. I will post some pics soon, But theres good news.

I am totally building the motor. I bought a used 2.0 short block. Im putting a 2.3 stroker, CP Pistons, Carillo Rods. The block and the head are both at the machince shop. What do you guys think about that.

p.s. And for all of you people talking ****, i would love to see you on the track or street, so i could run circles around you r car.

Good luck with the rebuild. But my head hurts as I try to read this thread.
And then this: " They took the motor apart, and the rod that broke free was burned. The mechanic said that it looks like there was a problem with it before i bought it. huh?
I believe people weren't talking **** about your car. They are just concerned that you got into something and beat it to death without knowing what the car has/could do. That is dangerous.
It now seems safe to say that you are better off without methanol inj. and go fully RaceGas tuned once your car is back together.

Yea i know what you mean. And your right i didnt know how powerful the car was, but i didnt beat it to death, trust me i know how to treat a car. But i know SO much about the Evo 8 now that i research and read forums. But i still have much more to learn. And i am getting a AEM EMS. This would be great for the setup i have with the methanol right?

I will put picture up soon, but the part of the rod that connects to the crank was dark brown, like it was burnt, and it smelt burnt. Both conrod bolt broke free off the rod.

Best advise/suggestion i could give you is become more familiar with your car. I think most people on this forum will agree, once you mod/buy a modded/built evo, you have to pretty much become a part-time mechanic or at least get to know it well enough so that you can tell right off the bat when something is wrong. If it has all the mods you are listing so far, just know that it will never be a "set it and forget it" type car, if you know what I mean.

Yea i agree 100% there is a lot that comes along with owning an Evo, but at the end of the day its all worth it.

I have the AMS injection system. It is AWESOME!!!!! I have an extra 90 awhp and 85 Ft lbs trq in a GT30 turbo. I have an Xede from Vishnu that controls the pump and runs the failsafe. I like having the ability to go from crazy as$ fast to holy fuggin **** fast by fliping a switch.

I run two maps and meth on/off. 93 and 93+meth. I have to fill my tank about every other weekend. 5 gal of Meth lasts me 2-3 months.

On a personal note...
AMS kit is 100% awesome and their support is GREAT!!!!

I have installed the snow performance kit on other peoples cars and it is a joke compaired to the AMS kit.

2 excellent failsafes are the aquamist dds3 and the zeitronix

aquamist dds3:
user definable safe operating window: keep watch over high flow (leak in the line, nozzle pop off), low flow(clogged nozzle, kink in the line, worn valves in your pump...) and low tank level.

zeitronix:
monitors egt and afr
Abner,

Everyone mentions the EGT as a "way of viewing the temps of the exhaust" in reality nor any digital or analog gauge will give you a warning fast enough for you to prevent blowing up. I have two personal 4G63 blow up engines on my curriculum, both times it happen in a split of second during hard acceleration, there is virtually no time to read EGT nor AFR during these situations.

The EGT is a pig, it takes seconds to display the real temp, you can't really rely on such slow reading mechanism. That is one reason why I don't use EGT anymore.

As far is the AFR reading gauges, what can I say.. look at the autometer led one, it bounces left to right to left to right to left to right all the time, I don't even bother even having one either. They are very inaccurate and unestable.. whenever you get a reading on an autometer AFR led gauge you always get several leds lit instead of accurately having a single led indicating a estable reading..

Ironically, both the EGT and the AFR actually read sort of "steady" only when you keep the pedal to the floor for a few seconds and you already know what will happen next, you will read something accurate at the cost of blowing your engine. There is no way around bro.

If I want a fail safe I will be looking at some sort of flow detection system instead.

my .2c

Carlos

Look man just rebuild and you already know you have a badass evo.....

Wondering if the trannie has been upgraded yet ? Well take your time and the enjoyment (somewhat elusive at times) far outways the setbacks we all have at times.

Good luck!
