Meth leaking after short trips normal?
I recently installed a snow performance kit with the 625ml/min injector, got it tuned and everything is working fine. The only issue is once in a while the car takes a while to turn over and start, and when it does start it idles at like 200rpm for aboout 10 seconds then everything is fine. I noticed the car only does this when the car is cold and i take a short trip and turn the car off. Then when i go to start the car up again anywhere from 20 min to hours later it starts like crap. The weird thing is if i take a longer trip and the car gets fully warmed up and shut the car off it will start perfect the next time i start it.
I think the problem is when i take a short trip and shut the car off the engine heat that was built up starts warming the meth line in the engine bay causing expansion of the liquid and dripping out of the injector and running into the engine after the car has been turned off. Then when i start the car next time i have meth laying in the engine and thats the reason for the rough start. On a long trip the line has time to get warm and leaks while driving until things equalize then when the car is shut off the line is at max temp and will only cool after the car is shut off and not leak due to contraction of the meth now.
This seems to make sence to me, does anyone have any info on this if i am correct? If i am is it bad that i have meth laying on my pistons sometimes? Does this happen to all kits? I know meth is corrosive, and it laying on top of pistons doesnt sound too good. Thanks guys.

Thats really the only problem i had with it... and sometiems the kit would take .5 seconds longer than it should to spray which made tuning a little harder.
Cheers!

Is it bad that the kit leaks into the engine a little? I dont want meth laying in my engine corroding things...
Maybe Dan at UCC can give me a little more info with this situation.
I had the same problem (injector nozzle) on my snow performance kit along with some additional leaks.
When I notified the vendor I was told NOT to use 100% meth instead use a diluted water/meth mixture.
Once hearing this I removed the kit.
Overall it was a waste of money/time for me.
Luckily no damage though.
I have heard that the TTP Performance meth kit is a good 100% meth kit.
Good luck and hope your experience turns out better then mine.

where do you have your pump and tank positioned. This is a common problem when the pump sits higher than reservoir. My car used to do this...temporary solution fill my
stock intercooler sprayer reservoir to about 30%...if i fill it up to the top...guaranteed next day cold starts nightmare...

come to think of it i think it only started doing this when i filled the tank all the way.....still the pump pickup is lower than the draw point on the tank, not sure why it would leak. Also like i said it only leaks after a short trip and the meth line warms up from the engine bay heat after the car has been turned off. If something expands inside of a solid object it has to go somewhere, in this case its out of the injector. I can deal with a crappy start once in a while, im just worried about engine damage since meth is laying in it, anyone have input on that?

If enough meth gets into the intake to hydrolock the motor you will have a lot of damage.
Checkvalve is an idea, however it restricts the meth flow volume and may require a retune. Checkvales also introduce two more places in the system where meth can leak from.

We have developed our own system specifically removing all the problem areas that other kits employ. Push on brass fittings, mcmaster nozzles, meth solenoids, paddle wheel sensors, and inappropriate pumps are all areas we have insured were NOT used in our kit for maximum reliability and 100% methanol safe.

eg line pressure@150psi, checkvalve has 20psi valve...150-20=130 of methanol pressure....which will continue to spray till it reaches the checkvalve holding pressure, longer line with thinner walls worsen the effect(baloon effect)
on a progressive pump speed system, the 20 or so psi back pressure further reduce the already limited flow range of the system...
Solenoid valve is the way to go - spray when needed, stop when not needed...not trickle to a stop
