noticing a failure trend for SMC pumps.
For the 3rd time my SMC pump has failed. 2 out of the 3 times the car was sitting for a couple of months. After sitting for a while the pump refuses to turn. I guess the seals dry out and just fall apart or something. Just a little heads up to test the pump if the car sits for a period of time. Steve has been very good about replacing broken parts, but after 3 pumps and 2 controllers, I can say that this is getting very old. Glad that I am running a failsafe even if it is a crude one.
Can you elaborate on the timeframe for all of this? i.e. ran fine for 10 months, parked car for 3 months, ran for 1 week, failed pump, ran for 4 months, sat for 2 months, ran for 1 day, failed, .....etc?
I've had mine now since January, no sign if deterioration...

im scared of this as im sure numerous people on this forum are as well. luckily, i have the aem and it only goes to my alky map if it sees power from the pump, but i want something that i dont have to worry about ever failing. interested in the coolinmist pump idea, any more info?

I think that I have more problems than most becasue I run a seperate map for the meth. I have it on a switch and do not use it all the time which may give the seals time to dry out. Two of the failures happened after the car was sitting for over 6 weeks. All of the failures happened within about 2 years of owning the smc kit.
