noticing a failure trend for SMC pumps.

For the 3rd time my SMC pump has failed. 2 out of the 3 times the car was sitting for a couple of months. After sitting for a while the pump refuses to turn. I guess the seals dry out and just fall apart or something. Just a little heads up to test the pump if the car sits for a period of time. Steve has been very good about replacing broken parts, but after 3 pumps and 2 controllers, I can say that this is getting very old. Glad that I am running a failsafe even if it is a crude one.

Get a Coolingmist Pump and wire it into your SMC controller. I have an SMC controller, with 2 gallon tank and coolingmist Pump. ***** FLY=D

Thanks for the tip. I was not sure if that would work with the funky ground trigger wiring that smc uses.

Can you elaborate on the timeframe for all of this? i.e. ran fine for 10 months, parked car for 3 months, ran for 1 week, failed pump, ran for 4 months, sat for 2 months, ran for 1 day, failed, .....etc?

I've had mine now since January, no sign if deterioration...

I think that I have more problems than most becasue I run a seperate map for the meth. I have it on a switch and do not use it all the time which may give the seals time to dry out. Two of the failures happened after the car was sitting for over 6 weeks. All of the failures happened within about 2 years of owning the smc kit.
