Labonte - New Meth Injection Pump, Raising the Bar

For years almost everyone has been using the same old 150psi pump for meth-injection. Not any more. The new DDP-5800 from LMS reaches new performance levels for methanol-injection.

Higher pressure leads to better atomization and faster intake charge cooling, and this pump delivers. Capable of making up to 250psi, fluid particles can be atomized down to 15-25 microns.

Unlike existing pumps with a pressure cut out switch, the DDP-5800 has an internal bypass which re-circulates fluid. This allows for more consistent pressure without pump cycling. The pump pressure is also user adjustable from 150 – 250psi (Factory preset at 200psi). The DDP-5800 is self priming and compatible with methanol or ethanol.

Another design improvement is the built in ¼” hose connection fittings. This simplifies install and reduces the number of system leak points for increased reliability. Pump length and mounting base are the same as older 150 pumps allowing for simple upgrade.

The DDP-5800 is now the standard injection pump included with all Labonte MotorSports meth-injection systems. MSRP $129.00

hmm...

there is shurflo on-demand, with annoying pulses - used by almost all WAI kit maker including yourself and there is the shurflo by-pass pump, used by Aquamist.

Labonte products are top notch.also standard is a bigger 3qts tank,hd lines, and upgraded nozzles with better atomization and hex for easy removal.

Im very interested in this product but i need to know if i would need 2 pumps or just 1 pump for my setup. I currently have the following

4 - M5 nozzles "1 in each runner"
1 - M12 nozzle "in the intercooler piping"

I am using a -4 braided line so can i get this pump with fittings to work with that?. In your opinion do i need to order 1 or 2 pumps to have the appropriate flow.

Thanks
Chris

Interesting pump, but does the pump have a quick disconnect and if so, what happen when it wears out, is the whole new pump top needed?

Sounds like the aquamist pump that's been around for almost 2 years now? This one puts out more pressure though, kinda neat.

The pump is made by aquatec, same principle as the Shurflo pump. We have been looking at this pump for a while. As fas as the our application is concerned, it doesn't really make any difference. We don't vary the speed of the pump to change flow. Just need a rock steady pressure.

Increase pressure span from 60-150psi to 60-200psi allows a better dynamic range for the PPS system, A typical increase from +58% to +83%, still very limited compared to the PWM valve system (+1000%). Nonetheless, it is an improvement over other PPS systems with a on-demand switch. A good move by labonte.

Pump don't make pressure, restriction does. Our existing pump was dialled up to around 290psi for the dieselmax project (see the link above). The turbo was pushing out 70-80psi for 93 seconds to complete the run.

If anyone wants to step up the pressure of the aquamist pump, We have higher by-pass valve springs available. Do this at your own risk - undue stress to the entire system.

POWER: Available motors from 12VDC to 230VAC, energy requirements between 25W-100W
(depending on flow, pressure). Can be used with compatible transformers and/or DC
power supplies, to be ordered separately. Standard terminations are 12”, stripped end
leadwires. Connectors and power cords are also available.
ENVELOPE DIMENSIONS: Approximately 3”x 4”x 7”, weighing 6 lbs.
MOUNTING: All positions. Standard offering is a steel mounting base with four hollow rubber grommets.
CONTROL OPTIONS: Internal Bypass (20-200 psi), Pressure Switch (40-100 psi)
FITTINGS: 5800 Series options include built-in 3/8”, 1/4", or 5/16” John Guest half cartridges. 7800
Series options include 3/8” or 1/2" hose barb, quick connect fittings. For additional information on fittings, please refer to page 21.

i think for these system - long term reliability/consistency is of utmost importance for the avg user. An example is the flojet rv pumps, forced to produce pressures they are not designed for - they fail too often.

The Gray hole you see in the photo at the head of the pump is the quick disconnect. No reason for it to wear out unless end user is changing hose daily.
