Hello this is my first post here and although I have spent the last few hours going though all the water/alc pages I do not have an answer to my question as yet.

I have an ecu that has a spare PWM table that i can use to drive a solenoid valve for meth injection. I have all the other necessary parts (Weldon pump, nylon lines, bulk head fittings, tank, stainless filter, pressure solenoid) but not the solenoid.

I want to run this valve with the pwm driver that I have spare. I am looking something like the www.smc.com.au valve (high purity etc) or mac valve. None of the tech details mention if you can pwm these valves or if they will live if i do pwm them.

Does anyone have any suggestion what I can use? I know of the aquamist HSV and cooling mist one, but as always cost is an issue with those particular valves.

If anyone can point me in the right direction that would be appreciated.

 

Go for a stainless PWM clippard mouse valve. About $40.00. $22.00 for non stainless (50:50 to 100% methanol suitable)

My only concern with the clippard is it will only hold 100psi max on the inlet. If i use a boost referenced regulator at 100psi and then add absolute boost upto 35psi with a pwm open pressure around the 15-20psi of boost that valve has to hold line pressure of 120psi. Or am i not working out something right.

Or run the base pressure 100psi an not boost reference it and loose progressively 10-15psi over charge pressure in the inlet pipe until the valve opens. Can i make up for the 80odd psi in pwm duty or will i not be able to keep the system pressure referenced like the 1:1 system and end up running the valve at 100% duty?

I hope that makes sense.

I am using the PJ25 jet at 100psi through the weldon (2015) pump running 100% methanol.

Also I have no idea on orifice size (I was thinking 0.025) or do I need that electronic valve booster attachment to get the flow through the little mouse valve.

I read this comment “The larger orifice type can only sustain 25psi. Multi valve is needed for flows over 500cc/min.” 2? 3? 4?

I believe the boost pressure is acting in your favour. You can hold 100psi at all times with a 1:1 boost reference regulator. Opening pressure i snot too important.

The clippard valve is takes about 5ms to open, regardless what others may claim. depending on your PWM frequency, you need to compensate for the opening time and shutting time. At lower PWM frequency, you will extend the flow control dynamic range. at 5mS, PWM frequency of 20Hz, your dymanic range is from 10%
to 90%, pretty damn good.

If you use the booster, you will reduce the response speed. Slow down with a factor of 2+1. (main valve + booster valve delay). I think two valve in parallel. will give your just under 900cc/min of flow.

 

I have some of those valves, you can have them for $30ea with the 1/4" hose fittings. PM me is interested.

 

Labonte, can I buy one from you if they available in stainless? I got the normal non-stainless ones. Or if you can point me to right source, Clippard dealers don't hold stainless type in stock.
