Hey, a lot of tuners have suggested going with meth injection so I'm almost sold on the idea, I understand how it works but would like to know what's a good choice for a kit. I've only really heard of Snow, Aquamist and AEM's kit. What's the best choice as far as reliability, power, and tuning options?

 

Can you describe your set up, stock or heavily modified?

I have Greddy TBE and O2 Housing, Injen Intake and Intercooler Piping, Hallman MBC, Walboro 255lph fuel pump, and I plan on doing cams, valvetrain, and a bigger front mount.

 

I believe you still use the stock turbo, just ramping up the rev band with all the mods. I think you can go for most makes of WAI.

Your set up will demand a large amount of methanol at mid range so I guess a single point injection system such as the HFS-1 will work well. Until you are pushing for a bigger turbo, it may not be necessary to go for a IDC based system such as HFS-6.

Someone may charm in and help me with this...

 

I've been doing a lot of research on this the past couple of nights and I think as of right now I would go with the HFS-1. Just need to save for a little while as it's one of the more expensive kits I've looked into. But from what I hear it's worth it so rather do it right the first time.

 

And yes I'm still running the stock turbo.

 

The Shurflo pump based HFS-1 has been changed to the Aquatec pump as from June 10 this year. As used on the HFS-6.

 

What's the difference between the two?

 

I love Aquamist with its spiffy Gauge. I have the HSF-1

I have the AEM kit with an extra failsafe. So far it has worked flawlessly and I couldn't be happier.

 

You honestly don't need an $$$$$ setup like aquamist now that there are tons of safety featurs that people have figured out with the stock ECU. Auquamist is a great kit don't get me wrong. You should look into getting a cheaper kit like AEM and making it just as safe as Auquamist for hundreds cheaper. Talk to your tuner about the new Tephra mods for the stock ECU and ECU controlled boost with the AEM boost solenoid. Here is what I did with my kit.

AEM kit comes with 125cc 300cc 550cc meth jets (400.00)
Buy the failsafe from SnowPerformane (60.00)
Buy an M15 (1500cc meth jet) good for 425-475hp (15.00)

I agree with everyone want to save $$$$. Only if the systems are comparable. The AEM is a PPS (progressive) system. The HFS-1 is a single stage (on/off) system and the HFS-6 is PWM valve system. Both comes with a 52mm dash gauge, display in real time, 3 failsafe output options - even in the event of a power supply failure. There are a few failsafe systems (no gauge) out there, sending out a active voltage upon activation. What "if" there is a power supply failure?

So the saving $$$$ comparison is not exactly accurate.

By the time you add a dash gauge system on those alternative systems, it will probably cost the same. In the event of a system incompatiblity issues who do you contact first?

I am not knocking aquamist. You have the best kit on the market, period. I'm just trying to say that you can for less money make a kit that works and is just as safe as the aquamist. Yes, you will not have all the bells and flashy lights and dash candy but other kits work and work well. With the ability to safe gaurd your motor with the stock ECU and/or the AEM EMS, it honestly wouldn't matter if your pump quits in WOT. The stock ecu can add timing and/or bleed out the boost instantly with ecu controlled boost. That is if the fail safes don't work in the first place. TTP believes that running meth is now just as safe as running pump gas on a well setup car and with the new tephra mods.

There is not a question about who has the best kit on the Market. It is aquamist and I'm just being honest with what you can now do with the stock ECU. A few years ago I would have went with an aquamist kit too. Added reliability and security!
