This is a good discussion. I am most happy to participate.

Flashing lights doesn't add cost to the system. Each one of the light is functional allowing user to monitor the well being of the system in real time. Imaging the tank level is replaced by a dash light instead of a gauge.

Any WAI system that doesn't have it own monitoring system and has to relies on a third party system cannot be regarding as a subject of a price comparison. It must changes the original discussion of $$$$ saving.

Since the discussion has changed course slightly so I can extend my view of the Zeitroix failsafe. An in-direct system such as the zeitronix is good but it it not especially desiged to monitor the flow of a WAI injection system. Its main task is AFR.

This leads to the following observations:

1. Main contribution to AFR is from fuel. Unless the usage of methanol (with sto=6.6:1) is at such large quantities. An AFR change due to a "methanol flow change" will not be as drastic as you envisaged.

2. Running less than 100% methanol further dilutes the AFR effect.

3. 0.2 point variation in AFR value may be regarded as acceptable on a conatntly changing driving conditions, even with all the clevest logics applied to Zeitronix system. Extracting a small reduction of methnaol flow is almost impossible. A 0.2 point AFR reduction contributed by methanol has huge cooling-loss implications. Methanol has 3 times the latent heat of fuel.

4. An indirect system that does monitor the WAI flow will not be as effective as the primary care "turbine flow sensor" system. Even paying this ~$300 option on top of your wai system well not be as effective as you think.

5. Even if the above system work well and responds very fast, it is still an aftermath to an already troubled condition. A primary minitor system can read slight ahead, depending on where the flow sensor is placed.

TTP is a good reputable tuning company. They are specialsit in 100% Methanol injection system. If a customer insisted on a 50:50 WAI system, I believe they will recommend a Aquamist system with failsafe on top of a Zeitronix systsm.

I have posted many a times on this site about a $470.00 system based on the DDS3 failsafe system to save $$$. But not many has taken up this option, they rather choose to pay the difference and buy the entire system from us.

This is something you can help us to spreading the "saving $$$" word in the DIY system, instead of saying why paying more $$$ on an Aquamist product. I doubt thereare any system can beat the capability of the $470 DIY system, equipped with a dash gauge based failsafe system.

We are careful in what we put in cars. We have 6 years of experience using methanol injection. In this timeframe we have tested, tried, installed and used every system in the market many times over.

When determining the correct system for a car we ask plenty of questions and be sure to lay out the responsibilities of the customer which is increased with meth injection use.

There are really only TWO reliable options with regards to meth injection. After 6 years of seeing meth injection kits leak, break, fail, clog, break and bust we have our own years of knowledge applied to developing the progressive TTP-Engineering kit which retails at $394.

There are options to use the zeitronix hardcare wideband monitoring system which triples as a wideband GAUGE, which can display boost, afr, tps, egt etc complete with simple and complex alarms that can be used to cut boost or switch maps in case of a problem.

Outside of the TTP Meth kit there is the Aquamist HFS-1 and HFS-5 which are injector duty cycle triggered systems which work well on MAF based cars like the Evo.

The Aquamist adds a flow sensor, low level sensor with MAP or IDC triggers to the mix which are nice at $682.50.

The HFS-5 adds a FIA-2 injector amplifier to the above mentioned features as well as a fuel injector duty cycle mimicing solenoid which will precisely deliver the methanol at the same injector pulserate as the fuel injectors. The HFS-5 also includes an accumulator which holds pressure on tap like a capacitor for a stereo system which provides instant meth availability as soon as the trigger is met. These features come at a cost of $929.

The rest we will NOT install at our location as it is not work the risk of being associated anywhere near a system failure and affecting our impeccable reputation.

The systems we have seen fail over and over are:

AEM kit (no check valve, siphons into engine, can cause hydrolock and catastrophic damage.

SMC kit- uses RV based flojet pumps which are not designed for methanol use. We have seen as many as three failures in 12 months on one kit.

Coolingmist- methanol lines pop off brass hose barbs causing fire or lean condition

Snow Performance- jets too small, meth line comes out of the injector straight which can lead to crimps in the line and lean condition.

TTP,

Thanks for posting your views on the subject, i cannot make comments on systems I have not used and tested myself. It will only create a one of those silly and meaningless "vendor to vendor" war of words.

We have been asked about putting in an extra simple 0-5V with hi/lo alarm input on our system. Does the Zeitronix have a 0-5V output for the WBOS? I have told them the zeitronix has it own output to switch a sounder or relay, but they preferred to control the failsafe from the Aquamist. This is not for the EVO market.

FYI, coolingmist has not used brass barbs since 2005. Like most other manufacturers we have evolved over the years to improve our product. Lines do not pop off our quick connect fittings.

Take care.

Yes Aux 0-5v input comes even on the base model Zeitronix wideband system.

Alarms can be set for these conditions both above and below voltage thresholds.

I was asking if the Zeitronix has 0-5V "output" to inducate AFR or lambda. Thanks for telling me the inputs and its failsafe alarm anyway.

Yes it also has linear output wideband for standalones or other purposes.

The 0-5v input can be used with the Aquamist flow sensor to set a window of safe operation (adequate flow).

Hey , this is so good.

Can you tell me how the AFR/lambda is translated to 0-5V?

TTP, thank you. Exactly what I am looking for. I see if I can add another input available for this.

Most people don't know about alkycontrol but try giving him a call. I have used them all in my old STi's and www.alkycontrol.com is by far the best made product on the market.

thats my .02
