i asked the same question her is a respone i got

'' it is not really needed is because the octane of e85 is high enough to run the amount of timing you would need meth for with pump gas. The only benefit I see from running meth is actually spraying more water and to cool the intake temps alittle.
Its like running race gas and meth. Its not worth it.''

one reason to do this is if you had a small intercooler or no intercooler at all

but to me e85 is alot cheaper then race gas so i think it is worth it to have the intake a few deg lower

In most cases you will be able to achieve max power timing before you see knock on e85 so meth and race gas/e85 (for most people) is overkill. What good is 4000* of timing when it makes the same power as 25*

Running e85 and meth? Wouldn't it be way too cool to even run efficient?

Its worth it for the reduction in intake temps not just fuel. intake temps after the intercooler are low 100's. if you can reduce that to ambient or sub. your talking about an easy 30-40 hp depending on power level.

does e85 itself creates colder combustion since octane higher than pump gas ?

Bringing this thread back from the dead. I currently have an AEM meth kit installed in the car and I intend to have an E85 tune cause I have easy access to an E85 pump. That being said, does anyone here have an actual experience with this setup rather than assumptions? I mean what everyone says is making sense but I'm the kind of guy that likes to hear it from the source. Anybody?

In my experience I saw a visible increase in horsepower after tuned to e85. My car was dynod on pump gas and it ran I think 460awhp. Redynod after e85 tune and it runs 503awhp. I personally prefer e85 however in my experience it burns a little faster. That also may be due in part to my injectors, but im not sure.. It depends on what your desired outcome is, but i give it a thumbs up!

I know E85 will make an immense difference but what I'm trying to get at is that I already have the meth kit, so will it be worth me using or just selling it to offset the cost of getting it tuned? Would there be any benefit at all for having both?

Could there be a benefit? Yes you could see lower intake temps. I ran both and it wasn't worth having more pieces in the puzzle to go wrong or to worry about. I took it off and my tune didn't change really at all, but my nozzle was in the tb elbow so it couldn't have cooled as well as it possibly could have.

Just run one or the other, or Wire in your meth to come on when your pump gas tune is on, and off when your e85 tune is on. It just isn't worth running both. People run 8's with just pump e85

I ran just 85, just meth and e85 + meth on my 335i. There was a gain with e85+meth. Any time you can cool your intake charge you are going to gain HP. The gain wasn't huge on e85+meth, maybe 20-30HP. Some people would say not worth the risk/headache but my meth setup was solid and was never a headache. The 335i is a little different that an evo though since meth is required to run a certain boost level due to insufficient fueling. If a 335i was able to run 100% e85, I'm not sure anyone would run e85+meth even though I still think there would be small gains. I'm interested in doing it mainly for 1/4mi back to back passes. IATs get very high at the drag strip and the only thing going to cool that is IC spray or meth, with meth being the best option.

Sounds like you have either A too small of a filter or B too small of an intercooler....Mine is ambient on e85 w/ 40+psi. Meth is not needed. Simple as that.
