California exhaust ticket experiences

I just got an exhust ticket today.
the police told me to go to any Califronia Highwy Patrol office after the exhust fix.
I have other mods done to my car. Would they have problem with my other mods too? Should I change everything back to stock before I go there?
I want to hear your experences with exhaust tickets

I had a teacher who lived in California. ANY engine mods or exhaust mods are illegal under the Clean-Air Act. Since they have stricter C.A.R.B. laws, they consider changing anything under the hood tampering with emissions, similar to anyone in the other 49 states tampering with the catalytic converter! I know, it sucks and it makes tuning hard, but, that's how they are.

that's why i went with k&n intake because it's c.a.r.b. legal. that's also why i haven't taken off my stock cat. i've heard an emission ticket in cali is hundreds of dollars. can't take that chance. i'll prob buy a high-flow cat later on.

no cat ticket in cali is like 1500-3000 thats y i have a hi flow cat, police arnt gonna check if its the right cat on ur car just if u have one. if ur exhaust isnt too loud u shouldnt have gotten a ticket.

and you should just have to take off your exhaust and show them u have the stock exhaust back on and get them to sign it they shouldnt look for anything else u werent ticketed for

cool. I wish I just can put a silencer on and pass.
I don't think will work.
oh well, gotta put back my stock cat back on then. Somehow, I gotta put simple muffler on my BOV too. I don't think CHP will like to hear BOV when I drive to their office.

I don't know, but just to be on the safe side, I would take it all to stock. You could get a cop who just wants to see that you fix the exhaust, but than you could get that cop who see something else and than your...

Click on thread above for more info. You can have it decibel rated . If it is under 95 dB, then you are clear and can leave the exhaust on.

technically if its just a catback its ok since you cant tamper with anything from the intake all the way to the cat and whats there in between like cams/mbc's and what not.since you have the helix just install the silencer on for now and put the stock cat back on.even high flow cats are nor carb approved not unless it came with a carb exempt paper with it.like what the other guy said try to put some of the stock parts back thats easy to deal with, you might just end up having a ref ticket issued to you while trying to sign off the exhaust ticket.

the helix looks really nice from behind. especially since it is polished ss. I had the helix tb too and I changed it to the greddy evo and its much quiter but still too much bling with both exhaust systems. I will be painting my exhaust black so it will match better with everything underneath. nowadays we have to stealth to be fast.

Ref can issue a ticket to you? I thought only cops could do that.
