CA Evo Property Tax
Hey, I might move to CA and doing a calculation how much the cost of living will be. I know it's gonna be soo much more. I'm getting much more too but...
Does anyone know the property tax for 03 Evo is like?
Does anyone know know how much the insurance is like? I'm 28 with good driving history. I will be in San Jose area.
Any advise will be great.
Thanks.

the insurance be that much consider your age and if you don't have any points on your record.
if yuo were to compare cali to where you are at iy going to be more, due to heavy traffic and numbers of Motor vehicles here in cali. I have Progressive and i'm 24, i pay every 6 months witht he amount of $739 bucks so about $1500 a year. for you it would be cheaper.

OKay $260 isn't bad at all. in fl, I used to pay like $25 and now in KY, it's like $300. do you guys see anymore extra $$$ that i have to pay from moving from ky to ca? i know gas will be 25% more.
I just moved and it cost me about $250 to register my car. A couple things will save you the hassle I went through-
1. Get your car smog certified (look for the smog check sign on many gas stations). If you are not legal, don't bother trying to find a guy who will certify your vehicle, it ain't gonna happen.
2. Make an appointment at the DMV website, this will save you a lot of hassle: http://www.dmv.ca.gov
3. Go to the website and make sure you have all the documentation you need. Be sure to have either cash or a checkbook. You need a bill of sale and your old registration. When you show up at the DMV you'll get your car inspected by a DMV staff member. They'll just verify the VIN and check your lights, etc.
4. Whatever you do, if you're missing some documentation, come back to the DMV. No matter what they say to you, come back to the DMV, do NOT mail in your documents. It takes almost 6 weeks to get your plates and they only give you a temporary tag good for 4.

I have Helix Cat-back. Is it going to be a problem? I was thinking to get RS-R downpipe which will eliminate the cat, that's not a good idea, is it?
Also, I'm thinking about shipping my car from KY to CA. Has anyone doen that before? I'm sure it will be ove $1k and takes a while. I don't wanna drive all the way though.
Don't get a downpipe for your car in CA. The fine for not having a cat is thousands of dollars, and cops know how to check. The catback should be no problem, it won't affect emissions. There is a noise regulation that is occasionally enforced but I don't think the Helix is that loud. Also, I had my car shipped and it was a nightmare. The car was picked up almost a week late, the front lip (stock) was mangled, and my car started leaking from its axles (not sure if it's related). If you can drive cross country, that's what I'd do. I used a company called The Car Carrier.
Gas prices are higher, but not 50%. Premium is around $2.50 right now. Max octane is 91 here, so if you have an aggressive tune, you may have problems.
