I'd try roebling long before road atlanta.

Make sure you get the wrench to get the lines off (box end with a cut in it) otherwise you'll just round off the brass connections (don't ask).

I run the stock bbs wheels as street wheels and 5zigen's with ra-1's as track wheels. I highly recommend doing the same if you're serious and get into it, if not, run what you have.

Biggest thing, make sure you have a good helmet, and safety gear ( harnesses help, but without a roll bar, you have a risk of serious injury if you roll). Try not to invest too much before you try it, you may honestly say "this isn't for me".

Not everyone is willing to risk their 30k+ car on a track. Hate to say it, but it has to be said, what will you do if you do have an accident and wreck the car? Always have to keep that in mind.
he he he yeah I'm "THAT GUY"

Yeah I have the flare wrenches, I made that mistake in my Talon..ouch sucks replacing a whole hardline.

I am looking at a helmet. I have a Full Nomex suit and gloves ..airforce has nomex flight suits..he he he

I think I may buy another set of ST-615's for the spare wheels.

You guys are great, thanks for all the help.

well, i haven't replaced it yet, it's still sittin on the counter, but it needs done sometime.

I actually just purchased an SA2005 helmet, it's getting shipped right now. I HIGHLY recommend going SA rather than just M, as some placed won't let you use a motorcycle helmet.

The helmet was like 245-250, not bad at all. http://us.st11.yimg.com/store1.yimg....r_1875_2882330

I'll let ya know how well it fits, since i bought it blind.

All this talk about roard courses is making me depressed... [chant] Spring is coming soon, spring is coming soon [/chant]

I would think any track that has a school would be good. Even if the track is kinda crazy, the instructors are gonna keep you in check.

yes, but nowadays, the sa2005 helmets are out, and they're only another 30 bucks or so, and they meet the new restrictions, and they'll be good for another 9 years, where those will only be good for 4 (not a huge deal i know, but i'd just up it a bit and get an SA2005 helmet.

SA2000 is not the standard anymore. It will probably be ok, but I wouldn't buy a helmet off ebay.

Just go here and get an open face SA2005 for $150 and call it a day...

S2005 is nothing.

SA2005 is "special applications" ie: race. fireproof, meant to sustain multiple impacts.

M2005 = motorcycle, not fireproof, meant to take one single hit.

they re-rate them every 5 years. Today is the last day to use an SA95 helmet (for most clubs).

I mentioned earlier, don't forget the Evolution Performance driving schools from the SCCA. THey have them all over the country. I feel that starting in autocross first will help you later on when you get to full sized tracks.
