Think it's 95 DB, go to frys, they sell a Db reader for sound systems for like 15-20 bucks, so you can see what changes you do effect the DB reading. I think the DB is measured at 3k RPM. The ref can't put you on the roller (gotta love AWD), so all he can do is rev it without load to get his reading.

It doesn't mention anything about distance. I'd suggest calling the ref office and ask them at what distance do they measure the DB reading. One would assume it's at about a car length distance from the car.
After you pass the ref DB test, be sure you get copy of the passing test cert and leave it in the glove box. For those future pull overs
