Justin you must be making 375whp if your shifting at 7k rpm 's..
I ran 7.9 in 3rd bouncing off the rev limiter (7600) FOREVER at a trap speed of 83mph
If I shifted Into 4th I would have a higher MPH but a slower time
F shifting into 4th.. If you hook up good.. you'll never have to worry about that anyways.

Back from the dyno. No beno. You can't adjust the cam gears without redoing the tune at the same time. So, I need to go back to the dyno when I can have a new, full tune done.

A by product of changing cam gear angles are different ignition timing and fueling needs....the MIVEC map also need to be adjusted accordingly since you have a IX....good luck on your quest for more POWA!

Its all good. Retarding the timing by 2 degrees caused a loss of 10awhp, but the car is now running pig rich and once leaned out it should make more power then when we first started.

Yep. James asked if I wanted him to set the exhaust cam gear back at zero until I have it fully tuned at -2 degrees and I said no. I don't plan on running again at the Q until the car is making more power though.

It was a joke dork

You said you were planning on running faster next time. How are you planning on doing that while shifting at 7K??? and possibly shifting into fourth??

In order to be fast/quick when drag racing you need to stay in your power band for as long as possible. Since the stock turbo loses its efficiency after 7K, you want to shift into the next gear to stay in your power band. If there is a fair amount of track left when I hit 7K in third gear I will shift into 4th. If not, I will ride 3rd out.

Shifting into fourth goes against "drag racing 101" rules.. bro it's the truth

Shifting at 7K is just hard to believe.. that's all

Its the truth in your mind. From the Mr. Dragster himself:

In your case, it's pretty flat from 6k-7k, which is good, but you should be right in that range in every gear (6k-7k) and should not be going over 7k except for maybe a few hundred rpm. All you have to do is look at dynographs of the thousands of other stock turbo'd Evos showing this same phenomenon. Plus, the part about being at full boost in every gear is WAYYYYYYYYY off. We hit full boost below 4000rpm, and then it tapers continually from there on. The higher you shift, the LESS boost you will see in every gear, because you're in RPMs that are out of the turbo's efficiency.

Just because you shift around 7k in other gears doesn't mean you have to shift to 4th. Again, this is just standard fare. In the 1/4, many people will shift at 7k on the 1-2/2-3/3-4 and then ride out 4th as far as they can. In your case, you could do the 1-2/2-3 at 7k and then ride out 3rd as far as you can. However, that's one of the problems with the 1/8th-mile. You WOULD shift to 4th before the 1/8th-mile on a 1/4-mile track, so trying to keep it in 3rd on the 1/8th just gives false readings. As one point of reference, on my 6spd, I would hit _5th_ before the 1000' mark, which is halfway between the 1/8th and 1/4.
