Thanks for that info!

Going back to the OEM ECU will require some OEM parts I don't have and would need to obtain. Then I'd need a road tune. So, this will take some planning.

no problem, I have a lot of stock parts, let me know what you need... I'm sure Reese Tuning can set you up with a flash

Don't know anything about that specific MR, but an IX MR with ~24k miles books out at ~$29,500 if it is in excellent condition, and chances are it is simply in good condition so figure ~$27,500. I myself would have a hard time buying a used Evo because chances are its seen a lot of spirited driving. Also, if it has any sort of mods, you have to question the quality of both the parts and installation. With the economy in its current state, and if your friend has good credit, he will have a good amount of purchasing power and should be able to get it for $26-27,000 if he is willing to roll the dice on a used Evo.

No need, you can take your chances here the same as any other place. I've been running around Catless for two years now and Cams will be installed and re-tuned on E85 in Feb. It really comes down to how you drive around on public streets.

damn, it seems like we are all moving. Ill be moving to japan in march, but there is still a good chance the orders might get cancelled cause my wife just got diagnosed with cancer and just got out of surgery. Im trying to either stay in san diego or head to hawaii.

also, thanks for the info on the evo. I know that if my bro doesnt get approved for the loan, then ill get it but there is still a guy in AZ that i wanted to buy his car i just cant find a way to get out there or convince my wife to let me.

Good luck on your move. I`m visiting Japan right now myself. Staying in Yokohama and branching out to Tokyo, Osaka, Nara, and Kyoto from there.

Paul, I heard there are only 2 pumps with e85... and I don't believe there are 100 at the pumps like Vegas.

I don't know much about E-85 (I only found 1 @ RTC Fuels 4067 El Cajon Boulevard), but for 100 octane...
Check out http://www.davebarton.com/Unleaded_Racing_Fuel_in_SoCal
There are 4:
1) S & S Crown Point Chevron
3804 Ingraham St, (at La Playa) (858) 272-1263
100 octane VP Street Blaze unleaded at the pump 11/23/08, $7.99

2) Quick Trip
596 N Mollison Ave., El Cajon (619) 441-3340
100 octane unleaded at the pump 06/27/07

3) Rancho Santa Fe Mobil
6089 La Flecha 858-756-2929
I-5=> Lomas Santa Fe=>E. 4.2mile(name changes 2x)=>Right at Via de Santa Fe=>1st Left. Closed Sundays.
100 octane VP Street Blaze, 100 pump 11/23/08, $9

4) Cosby Oil - Mission Valley near Stadium
6220 Fairmont ave, San Diego http://www.cosbyoil.com/RaceFuel/racegas.htm
Sunoco GT 100 unleaded at the pump 07/20/08
NOTE: for Cosby, you can go and pay during the day (I think it is 5 gal minimum) or sign up for the Cosby credit card and use the pumps any time
