Modded So Cal Evos beware...

CA law enforcement is now using ALL loud exhaust tickets as an opportunity to force you to remove any non-CARB legal parts from your car.

This is a change from 6 months ago.

If they cite you for loud/modified exhaust and you go to EITHER a CHP or CA Referee station, they WILL look under your hood and say you must remove all big turbo kits, headers, 3 inch exhausts, etc. before they will even test you for sound level.

With the new crackdown on loud exhausts, if you have a BR, AMS, or any of the other popular 3 inch TBEs or a GT turbo kit, you will eventually get caught and have to return to stock to resolve the ticket.

Bottom line--big turbos, tubular headers and 3 inch TBEs will eventually cost you in terms of money or time.

Yeah, I know it sucks. That's why I've always kept everything stealth. Stock ported exhaust manifold, stock ported O2 housing, stock air box, stock appearing exhaust system, ect... I've dealt with the So Cal smog crap for over 20 years with my cars and never have been hassled unless I was speeding. BTW you might want to have this thread moved to the western region forums where it would do more good.

It sounds like a CHiPpie thing. I was never notified of this from traffic division where I am at. None of my buddies that ride motors have done that either. It's just a "fix it" cite to my department. I will say this.....the CHP are in their own little world, and play by their own rules. What do your expect though, when you are considered "AAA with handguns"! J/K!!

Glad we do not have to deal with that in Michigan it makes the crappy roads and winter almost worth it plus we got what you lust for, 93 octane.

well the reason they were pulling people over like crazy was because everyone was going to a meet... tab tuesdays in walnut/westco... it was pretty crazy watching peoples cars get towed away and the news cameras filming... but like 75% of the cars that were pulled over were stock
