Question what kind of fuel does hawaii have? trying to get information for my tuner so he know what to tune for. I heard there is 100 octane over there but is that the only one that hawaii has to offer? thanks

we have the lowest of the low 92 Oct. there is only 1 place on island with 100. ($10) per gallon, and its all the way down town. So if you live in Kbay/waikele/ewa beach, its prob not worth the drive for it. Be out of a quarter tank or more before you get back.
I live up in wahiawa and was told that the gas at the NEX really sucks (knocks alot) which will suck to have to pay for gas out in town since its 17 cents cheaper on base.
I plan on getting like 5 gal of the 100 oct to tune a map for autocross

I've been concerned about getting mine done because I've heard that its so hard to get the appointment. How many of you have your cars reconed. pm me is fine.
just to clarify for everyone if a cop asks you about wheels for recon.. they were taken off this year. only a drop would be considered recon in this case. cops mainly look for the tire size. everytime one pulls me over i tell them my tire size and tell them its stock and even if you were dropped most of them cant tell. unless.. you have barely any tire fender gap.

Rims were remove a few years ago. I believe 2 years ago, Thats when i say a van on 22. and there is no recon for exhaust or engine modification. Unless you have a miata with a LS1 or something like that. Exhaust is based out the noise, if they think its to loud. you got a ticket.

The exhaust part can be thrown out. You are authorized a 90 db exhaust. IF you are pulled over for exhaust, then you just go to court and fight it.

yeah safety does the exhaust right? but it has to have a cat and less than 90db? or was it 93db? i didn't get a recon ticket yet. the cop let me go though when i told him that rims weren't recon. and he couldn't tell with 100% certainty my car was dropped. anyways are we going to meet up this weekend again?

it is 93db you're right. safety isnt for exhaust at all. that is just to make sure your car is in working order. blinkers, horn, wipers, etc.

the catch is if they "think" you need recon, they won't pass you.

+1. i went to the same place in kailua that i always went to for 4yrs. Had 2 new guys there any they failed me. Had stock front bumper, Stock wheels, and my Buddy club bucket seat, and stock hood with vent removed. Said" im not sure the car came like this. This is def. not stock from the factory, and im not sure about the vent in your hood either. Sry i cant pass you." left there, went on base and passed no problem.. Then i drove back to get my Non-refundable $25 back. And i did.

93db is way to loud!!! just think, on the flight line and in the hanger we have to wear hearing protection for anything about 90db.
