^^^ yeah i had one on my wrx a few years back and it was night and day. personally i'm over the test pipe/ loud exhaust phase. i just happend to buy a car with a test pipe, header, dp so i cant go back to a oem set up. It was a good deal. it was cool the first month then i got sick of the headaches from the fumes and the noise. I work next to f-15s all day last thing i wanna deal with is loud exhaust and on top of that getting messed with by cops
^^^ the problem i ran in to was an oem set up and cat being 2.5 falanges wouldnt bolt to a 3in falange on the dp so i just screw it and bought a 3 inch ultimate racing hi-flow 177.00 w/ new bolts and nuts, gaskets shipped from http://www.maperformance.com/

^^^i'll have it in ill take some pics to when i'm on base installing. i'll be sure to record a sound clip and let you know the outcome. more to come! any one out there with an evo 8 anna trade test pipe for stock intake, filter and mounting hardware? pm me if interested
i can tell you with a test pipe with the header,o2 housing, dp and a hks carbon ti with the midpipe swaped with a 3in pipe with no resignator its pretty dam loud and it drones. but ill see what i can do
Hey Jim, you won't notice much, if any difference by putting in a high flow cat as far as noise is concerned. The big creators of sound are the downpipe and muffler. When I got rid of the factory manifolds on my WRX I used to have, even with a high flow cat it was RIDICULOUS. On the Evo I am thinking about going back to an OEM exhaust, and just doing a cutout on the downpipe.
^^^ i just got done installing the hi-flow and yes there is a big big diff, its much more quiet and no more stink i was driving around on 215 it cut the droning in half and its not annoying anymore. Gotwheelhop i had the same set up on my wrx with a bitz exhaust then i slaped a highflow it shut the system up it was not RIDICULOUS. i am so happy with the hi-flow results. sorry no sound clips. my set up was manifold,o2housing, dp, test pipe, hks carbon ti with resinator removed it was loud way to loud and now its quiet
