You do need an alignment. Tell us how the alignment goes and post up the spec sheet. Hey did you check this out yet?

Looks sweet. Any of you guys in on this? Here is the link...

Hey, guys. Will be at meet Thursday.

Installed my HKS catback. It rocks. Sorry, John, I managed to do it myself. I got the urge the other night to do it. Fits perfect like it was stock.

As for the downpipe, sorry, don't like the Buschur 2.5" pipe. It made the car f'ing LOUD. i'm mean the catback is quiet, just deeper sounding than stock, but the DP made it loud and I don't care what anyone says, you do lose low end torque. And i don't even have the 3" one.

Another thing I noticed is my oil temp rose higher than stock levels after putting the downpipe. There is no wrap on it and not coated, so I can't imagine summer heat with that pipe. The pipe fit okay, but i removed it. Paid $225. I don't know if I should get it coated or sell it and keep my low end torque. Kinda bummed I didn't like it. It did add power though and you can feel it.

I would just go 3 inch all the way. Turboback baby
If you do keep it just get it jet hot coated. One of the vendors here sells a aluminum type heat pad for the oil tank to keep the downpipe from heating up the oil. Remember though, pretty much every part you add to the car needs to get tuned with the ecu. By the way did you reset the ecu? Maybe you'll get your low end back. I dunno?

Haven't heard of any one here using them. But I plan to when I get the exhaust.

Hey, yeah I reset the ECU and drove around for awhile in red rock. When you are at a stop, and take off, it feels weak and "hollow" if you know what I mean. Like you have to put more revs into taking off. Once is spools, look out, but day to day driving and stopping is annoying to me with the downpipe. As soon as I went back to stock, bam, instant low end torque and quieter.

The oli temp did raise even though i bought the heat shield that sticks to the oil pan. The pipe gets blazing hot and discolored immediately. The stock pipe is not only heat shielded, but has an asbestos type insulation under the heat shielding wrap. i guess mitsu was concerned with this issue to go out of their way and make sure the pipe is insulated.

Many evos are running downpipes, but how many have an oil temp guage to see really what's going on. Wait till summer heat. The pipe will act like a stover burner under a frying pan. Not good.

I was thinking about the Jet coating, but i do not like the Buschur product. It's a piece of garbage. Sorry to say. All the other pipes i have seen look 100x better.

I think my next step will be an elec boost controller. Plus I am going to LA april 9 for a custom tune by Dynoflash. I get a 3 hour tuning session and they should extract a good 20 or more whp with proper tuning. I am aiming for 300 to 340 whp total and I'm done except for goodies inside the car.

Yeah that's why I wait a while before I start modding. Useful tidbits of info like that show up and before you know it, people will complaning again how ****ty mitsu is with warranty coverage, not realizing their at fault not the manufacturer.

The very first thing I have to do is get me some gauges. Their is alot of misinformation being spread like its the word of god. I see alot of new evo owners asking what to mod first and people tell them turboback, blah, blah, blah... but never gauges. Its like an afterthought. By the way, I wonder how hot the oil gets with an uninsulated downpipe? Hot enough to burn oil and have people wondering why their down a few quarts every oil change? Something to think about I guess.
