i at least wanna rev past 7k just in case. IX's just cant trap as high as the 8's can cuz of the shorter 4th gear. when i hit 12.3 @ 111, i was at 7500 at the end of the quarter. cosworth doesnt recommend past 7k w/o springs/ retainers.

Gotcha. I forgot about the gearing. At least its not as bad as my buddy's Mazdaspeed Miata. He finishes the quarter mile in 6th gear

I actually have a guy in my car club thats building an Evo III out of a Mirage and hes gonna be buying my VIII 16g for 200-300 bucks. Will the evo twin scroll mani bolt up to the older 4g63 blocks? I really don't see why it wouldn't.

it wouldnt fit. on the evos 4-9 the motor got flipped and the turbo went to a reverse rotation assembly for better side to side balance. evo 1-3 had the layout of the 1st and 2nd gen eclipses and talons.

I remembered that, but I don't see how the mani wouldn't fit. He'd have to re do the IC piping and the downpipe i know that much, but the mani would just bolt up to the head. The only thing I could see is that the exhaust pulses may be different, but all the gases have to do is flow through the mani, so that shouldn't be a problem. I'm not trying to be combative just trying to figure this out. I went to school to get a degree in automotive tech, but the answer to this seems to be eluding me on this as well .

There's a guy here in Vegas that has a mirage completely converted to an Evo VI. 4g motor, awd, and everything.

Nice! I've thought about doing that project since I saw the Mirage hatchback that someone in NZ did. Looked sick! I'm looking forward to seeing what these two guys cars will be like when they are finished.

here is something you guys are overlooking...yes the 8 manifold will bolt up..BUT if you use an evo 8 mani and turbo they will be facing in the wrong direction!!! Evo 1,2,3 engines are mounted and arranged just like 1g and 2g eclipse turbos. So you will have a good time re-routhing IC piping and what not.

That wouldn't be a problem. I've told him this already and because of the engines they are using they'll have to re do the piping anyways. Well my friend who is buying my turbo may not have to redo the piping if he sticks with a 1g or 2g turbo, but the other guy will. Plus if he want any sort of power he'll need a new turbo and may need to redo the piping anyways.

Another option down the road would be a X's turbo once people start selling them after upgrading. It's standard rotation but not sure how the manifold would bolt up to it. Just a thought.

BTW, this is the post #3000 in here, do I win anything?
