Question Buying an evo

Does anyone know anything about this Evo. Or anything about the dealer. Any information would be helpful. I live in Washington and only want to make one trip down there to buy it. It appears to be exactly what I'm looking for so I'm willing to make the trip.

Thanks in advance.

yeah i would stay away from a dealer car, personally i just dont like how the cars are way over priced for what they buy them for, and if something is wrong with the car they will do a temp fix just so it passes the test drive, plus 24k its way too much for an 06, yeah it has low milage but there is plenty of cars for sale on the forum and way cheaper, and you can see the history of the car or owner through the forum, but good luck though

Looks nice, only thing I see is an HKS intake on it. But it looks nice, my only advice with my recent struggles is do some reading on HVAC controls for the Evo and then get up under the footwell on driver side and check gears/levers. Also turn knobs on the HVAC and see if any binding or struggle occurs. If so, have some money back to fix it.

Ya a dealer wouldn't be my first choice but i have a limited window of time to buy a car and am also very picky so I'm resorting here. Definitely going to have it fully gone over by a seperate mechanic to make sure there is nothing wrong.

Thanks for that I'm gonna make sure to do that now. and what gears and levers would you suggest checking and for what? Any other problem areas to look at? I know I'm going to listen for T-case whine and check that there aren't many more mods.

@ EndlessAWD

Check this thread out, the first post, look at the picture he posted.
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...n-problem.html

You want to make sure when you crawl under there that you have the levers that are pictured on the left, not the ones that are on the right. Otherwise carefully test out the controls for the HVAC for binding or any spot that has resistance. You DON'T want to have to yank left or right or you will break something.

Keep reading in that thread to understand a little more about the issues. It plagues Lancers and there are multiple "recall-ish" notices about how to repair it. If you have anymore questions on that let me know. I'm slowly becoming an expert on it.

This is what happens when you don't know about the HVAC issue, and have a major issue that isn't solved by the minor fixes for the HVAC controls:

in picture 12 you can see all three ACD lights are on while at idle. That is a bad sign. in my case I thought a simple ACD fluid flush would fix it, turns out it was the ACD pump that needed replacement ($2,300)

It will be covered under the 60K warranty unless its been voided by mitsubishi..... I'd call a dealership with that vin and ask if there are restrictions on warranty work (they should be able to tell you that if your not the owner).

^^ get screwed once, you tend to look out for these things! if it was at ignition stage 2 then no worries. but at idle it should be only a single light.
