Comp grinds their cams to make best low end torque. Don't do anything with the exaust cam & you can pull up to around -4* from the intake cam for more top end power....honestly though the car will more than likely feel best with the cams installed straight up...thats usually where I have mine set

EDIT: Comp claims stock springs are fine...i would strongly recomend upgrading them.
Do you recall where centerline on the alignment pin is, in angle? I'm sure I'm going to have to double check these guys eventually.

One project at a time, one project at a time.

um ... I hope you're not judging the Evo relative to straight line contests? If you are you're missing about 80% of what the Evo has to offer.

My "best" (and I've not made too many) upgrade to date was tuning the suspension. Suspension tuning doesn't come with all of the electronic, and boost inspiring bling, but if you know how to drive, and like to do so, the suspension has a lot to offer.

i have a set of BC 280s in mine right now. I cant remember if they came with a cam card or not, id have to look through the boxes i guess. Im just running them straight up with my gears at 0. I have the specs for my cams that I got off of the BC website so maybe i should start there.

I'd say that is true ... but ... the ...

4G63 has a 85 mm bore and 88 mm stroke
and the
4B11T has a 86 mm bore and 86 mm stroke

It would seem to me that unless you want to pwn with an Evo X or modded motor we're all stuck with the same stroke.

Does anybody know a gray Evo x with u of u license plates? I think the first number is either 8 or B. I never get worked up from douchebags or call them out but this time its a must. Next time a lancer or any car pulls up to you in the free with no intent to race but to see who you are to see if I know you, don't do a free way pull and then stick your hand our the window and shake your finger and give a dumbs down to them you douche bag. Learn to have some humility because you never know who that person might be. So if you want to do a pull against MY car and not feel like you have a big **** because you pulled my wifes car who wasn't Racing you send me a pm ands we'll meet up. I hope I see you again when I have my car. It pisses me off that because of douchebags like you, our community gets a bad rep. Especially since you have an Evo. I hope Someone on here knows you and tells me who you are.

^^ i misclicked into the thread and i wanted to say I agree with your comments. I'm glad that since I put my exhaust on my car, I don't get this as much, but it's really annoying when you wanna talk and they take your rolled down window as a green light to douchebagery.

p.s. thanks for the link to enginebasics.com... I have been wanting to find a site like that for a long time.

Didn't really pay attention to the pin as far as degrees go...the cams did line up perfectly with the cam gears at zero though, so they were ground right on. I actually mapped out the lobes in excel after I degreed the cams, measuring lift every few degrees. The opening & closing ramps were pretty agressive which is why I don't think the stock springs would last very long....unfortunately my old laptop crashed & I lost that data.

All cams should come with a cam card. I'm really not a fan of BC products, I remember installing a set of their 272* cams in an 8 & they really didn't do much for the engine..granted this car didn't have adj cam gears so I couldn't manipulate the powerband.

Sounds about right, some tool in a lancer x did something similar on the freeway when I was just trying to pass him in my 2.5 rs

Good points ... I think the newish Comp series their 280s were ground under were
their new "XRS" lobes or something like that. I think they gentle push the valve, and then go really aggressive. I'm sure its something about breaking the seat pressure etc etc etc ... regardless I'll take some measurements, and if they are on I'll pass you the data.

Oh on the douchebaggery ... yes ... there is a big difference between pushing the limits and driving performance, and being an azz. As in gear's place, if you're slow and making a pass and trying to bait somebody, that's a very compromising situation to put the underpowered car. Especially if there is on coming traffic. Typically if I have the horsepower and was just zoning out and going slow, and get passed, I'll just pass right back if the passer was a douche. Most of the time most people pass me because I'm going slow. If I'm going slow, and I can go slow in an Evo surprisingly, it really doesn't bother me getting passed.

Another driving pet peeve of mine is lane choice. I-15 is notorious for douches diving into the right hand lanes to pass peeps. It part them, and part another because Utah has been pulled over so many times for simple lane changes, and roads are **** poor crap designed, that most drivers choose a lane and stick to it.

Utah has self-righteous drivers, and a lot of them. They try to promote their saving graces of "obeying the law" to others by blocking them in. I don't mind keeping lane changes down in the winter, because everybody has to survive the snow roads, but for 9mo. out of the year that doesn't apply and we should be as right laned as possible, and let all of the peeps in the left lane get pulled over if they want that.

./rant off
