Now how sick would this one be

The best deals I've seen for recaro baby seats have actually been on amazon or eBay. They can be a bit pricey but then again I don't know what normal car seats cost I think it's expected to spend $150-200 on a nice recaro baby seat

Both Zelda and Samus would be awesome girl's names. "Isn't Zelda the guy?" (facepalm)

Also yeah it is crazy. Too bad you're down in St Geezy now though.

And I doubt I'll be next, we split up (again). But you never know. Who would've thought that Wes would move back to St George and settle down so fast?

Driveshaft and wheel bearing woes

I took my evo in to get a knocking noise checked out. Whenever I shift or let of the gas I get a little knock from the rear dif that sounds like a little thud from something rolling around in the trunk.

Anyways they said that my Sheptrans stage 2 acd T-Case was bad and needs to be replaced for 4000$ and that the propeller shaft u joint is bad and needs to be replaced for 1500$ and I have a bad wheel bearing for 401$.

I don't think there is anything wrong with the t-case if there was it would be a whine or grind noise not a knock.

Anyone have or know where I can find a new propeller shaft or anyone have an old one laying around I could buy??? Also wheres a good place in slc to get the wheel bearing fixed?

I took it to ken garff salt lake. The wheel bearing is a separate issue, they noticed it when trying to hear the clunk. I think it hums but I can't hear it when driving over all the other noises. They seemed to think it was substantial though. I've also had a tiny wobble at high speeds on right hand turns so they could be related.

I agree with you, I think the problem is just the u-joint popping. I called shep trans and they said they've never heard of a transfer case making a popping noise. Ken Garff has really screwed me over the years, but their service department hasn't been too bad until now. Its 245$ just for the diagnostic so I'm getting my car and never going back.

Its really hard to tell apparently where the noise is coming from, but its pretty loud. It doesn't sound too harmful though and is only noticeable when shifting at lower revs. For example backing out of my driveway I always hear it.

I had someone look at it for the wobble and they said the driveshaft had too much play and would wobble a little as well so I'm pretty certain this is the problem. I may actually try and sell it because my finances are not great right now. Its a 2006 RS with 43,000 miles, clean in and out. Its my baby and I don't want to let it go but we'll see how this all turns out. Literally breaking my heart.

You took it to Ken Garff? lolololololololllllllllllllllllllllllllloooooooooo ooololololololololol llllollll

Try $100.00 for the bearing, $100.00 for the press and install on a super bad day.

Be sure to tell them you'll never go back, you reported to this board, and now at least 50 people know about what they're trying to do.

The other shops mentioned should be able to help you.

Live and learn.

P.S. My guess is worst case you have a bad rear diff ... best case you have a weird drive shaft in the rear. One other thing to check is make sure your tire pressures are not totally wacky front to rear.
Your t-case could be poof, but clunks from the rear, are usually 'only' from the rear. I'd be checking rear bushings before I'd go after a front t-case.

Thanks for the replies, feeling better already. I go to solid for all my normal stuff, just had my brake pads replaced there because it was cold and snowy and I don't have a garage to do it in. I will probably replace the drive shaft myself and pay someone to do the wheel bearing.

I only went to Ken Garff because I thought this would be covered under the 100,000 mile power-train warranty, but that's only if you're the first owner. 60,000/ 5 year otherwise.
