FWIW, I've never said the wing lacks function. Obviously, it keeps you on the track at 150mph (a speed I've hit all of once, ever). It will also help get you laughed at by most ladies older than 25, or most people that don't know about cars. Do I care what other people think? To some extent, hell ya. I see a honda with a spoiler as big as the evo's or sti's and I immediately start laughing and crying inside simultaneously for that car and it's owner. Anyone who doesn't know what an evo or sti is, did the same thing for me when looking at the car. I just got tired of picking up a new date and getting the look like, "are we going to the indy 500, or to dinner?"
I realize there will be no end to the wingless discussion, but just wanted to chime in. I didn't mind the spoiler. I *love* the way the car looks now that its a little more subtle. To each their own, of course.

Yep... My wife can identify a front or rear strut tower brace by looking at one of the end plates and counting the number of holes. She did that Sunday, and I remembered why I married her.
I recommend you get a set of Summer tires and a set of snow tires. All season tires do nothing well.

That's the way it's gotta be.I second that recommendation, in the end it costs you the same as the all-seasons because they last you longer.
hahah point taken, and normally, I'd agree with you... That is, unless there's an indy car-sized spoiler on my car. I'm a huge car nut, but its never been a concern of mine to have a lady that was also. A bonus, sure, but not a necessity. That's just me though.
As far as the wing goes, I know quite a few people think its what makes the evo, an evo, which is a pretty silly statement to me. In my mind, a pontiac sunfire with the same spoiler looks equally as "good," as the evo does. Whether mitsu, or the owner put it on doesn't make a lick of difference to me. At any rate, its just a spoiler. dowhatchalike.

However, the closest thing I've been able to get to a all-around tire is the NT850, and it lacks in the winter. It leans more towards a summer / performance tire. It got a lot squirrelly in any snow above about 3 inches as far as stopping. To try and improve grip I put 1" ride height and brought down the damping to try and get the car to lean in the snow ... still didn't help that much.
Here's my short list of tires from Winter to Summer Performance:
Winter to Summer List:
Hakkapelita 4 - Studded - Tall blocks - Really squirrelly above 80mph in any conditions - Super Good in Snow / Ice Traction - Almost Overkill for Utah unless in mountains with hardpack ... I was travelling a lot from Oregon and back when I bought them. In Oregon a necessity ... in Northern Utah, overkill unless canyon carving in snow is your thing.
Continental SportContact - 2 sets - Good in Winter - Bad Wear - Terrible in Summer - No Squeal or indication of Understeer, they just tank over and start to grind ... (However I love their sportbike tires for sport touring)
Nitto NT850 - Very good Wet and anything above 20deg. + Dry - Can be used in Winter. Super good treadwear (500) - Have them on now - Found a couple of snow days I really had to slow it down, probably should have had my Hakka's on.
Advan A046 (Evo OEM) (if I did this right) - Greasy Suckers - Hard Sidewall that really doesn't match the suspension of the Evo. I would never buy these again.
NT05 - Fun Performance Tire - Burned them off too fast - Good sidewall feel
I would recommend these that I haven't tried ...
Winter to Summer List:
General Winter Something - Cheap / Available / Studless -
BFGoodrich K/A Series - Best Recommended Sidewall for the EVO
Nitto NT01 - Killer Track Grip - gates311.com

The wingless look certainly has grown on me. But vehicle looks overall are all personal preference. Sure I might think 20" chromes and a nasty body kit on your Porsche are horrible, but as long as you like em. It's like the guy who saw my old Porsche at the movie theater one day, I was standing near it but he didn't know it was mine. He was checking it out and saw the big transformers sticker on my back window "What a horrible way to ruin such a great car"
Without letting know it was mine (though I'm sure he figured it out) I said "When you have one, you can do whatever you want to it"
Oh yeah, definitely not a necessity. Just like the spoiler, it's all personal preference. The only necessity is that the girl understands my passion for cars, and accepts it. Which, I've never had a problem with.

Well, I finally got all the new parts on my car.
Last friday I went to work pulling the entire exhaust, tip to tail. Exhaust manifold, o2 housing, dp, cat, etc. I had it all off by Friday night, but I snapped an exhaust manifold stud saturday morning. Then, I snapped an extractor off in the stud trying to get it out. It turned into my worst nightmare, basically. Long story short, if you find yourself in a pickle like this, and you have a steady hand, a tungsten carbide dremel cutter head will obliterate about anything you throw at it. We went through a number of different drill and dremel bits before this worked. Ultimately, it was sharp enough to turn the stainless steel extractor into dust while we were cutting around it. It took all of 10 minutes, and its unfortunate we didn't try that first.
At any rate, she's all back together. New exhaust mani studs, ported, polished, and ceramic coated exhaust mani, ported and coated o2 housing, cobb 3inch DP also ceramic coated, and then into a cobb test-pipe. This all hooks up to an invidia CBE, and I've got to say: I love the way this exhaust sounds.
I learned some damned hard lessons this go round, but in the end it was a great (and terrifiying) learning experience. Just thought I'd share.

Thats why I told you I like to use studs if I can, instead of bolts. Thats good you got it all together though
