May have a part bouncing around inside of it. I had part of a piston and piston ring bouncing around in one of my stock motors that was being pushed so I know your pain man If you can pull out the spark plugs and look inside to see if there is any marking or chips on the piston that can tell you something with inside the motor. If it is still inside then it could be part of the piston. If it was something small enough to be sucked in through the head then it could be sucked out through the exhaust. Just a few ideas and thoughts at the moment to hopefully help out.

Thanks,
Dallin

That sucks man. Check you oil level... Cornering while accelerating (if your oil level was low) may have starved your pickup and you may have spun a bearing causing rod knock. Loud bang 3 times a second sounds like rod knock to me. Depending on your idle.

I've heard of Evo 8's starving the motor of oil during autocross (I believe the 9's don't have this problem). Sucks buddy but what's the point of owning an evo without having some fun? Good on you

K I'll check the oil level too. Is rod knock really loud ever? When I say loud I mean really loud.

Having fun but expensive fun. If the short block is toast I might just put a built 2.4L 4G64 short block in it the summer. Build the head well I'm in there too.

sounds like it spun a bearing to me. when you drain the oil you should be able to tell what went based on the color of the metal flakes in it also.

So say I did spin a bearing what all would most likely be damaged?

Possibly the following damage:

Crank (May need to be polished or replaced depending on how bad), Rod (If it got hot and or damaged from the spun bearing), Cylinder wall ( Scraping may need to be honed or board out depending on how bad) and piston damage ( From bouncing around in the cylinder). As long as there is no big pieces of metal in the oil system that could be the only damage. If there is more it can affect other areas as well

Hope for the best though.

Thanks,
Dallin

Well hopefully that is that case and then I can either build it and make it a 2.3L or I can buy a MAP 2.4L short block and get a core credit for mine. We'll see. I'll keep you guys updated.

Speedway Children's Charities Present Laps For Charity!
Sunday, January 27, Las Vegas Motor Speedway

Here’s one for the old BUCKET LIST! Drivers 18 years of age and older will experience the thrill of driving their car, truck or motorcycle around the 1.5-mile Super Speedway at speeds of 75 mph behind a pace vehicle. Drivers will feel the rush as they drive their vehicle three times around our track for a $30 donation to SCC. The $30 entry fee is per vehicle; not per person. Too much fun– go around three more times for only $20! Drivers may get their picture taken in Victory Lane for a $10 donation. Refreshments will be available for purchase while waiting for your turn to hit the track.

Register and pay for your laps- http://lasvegas.speedwaycharities.or...s_for_charity/
*The LV Evos will cruise the track together at 8:45AM.

As a thank you for supporting our Speedway Children’s Charities, we would like to invite you to come make some passes down the drag strip for only $25! We will be having an open session at the drag strip from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on January 27, 2013 and would like to invite you to participate at this discounted price. Just bring your receipt from the Laps for Charity event over to the drag strip and your entry will only be $25 for car/driver. We will have dedicated lanes for you so that you can race each other, challenge cars from other clubs, or just see what your car can do in the quarter mile. Spectator pricing is only $12 so bring your friends to cheer you on. We hope to see you at the strip!

Anyone here good at getting rid of scratches on their cars? I have one on my rear bumper that I would like to get rid of. My fingernail very slightly catches on the scratch.

If you want it to come out you must do it but if you do it by hand with 1500 it could scuff to deep and you will have a hard time with pulling it out.
I work for a collision repair shop as a polisher
What I do is go over the whole section with 1500 grit with a orbital sander then i wet sand with 2000 with a soft block. Go over it one more time with 1500 on the orbiter then use 3000 on the orbiter very thoroughly. The more you go over with 3000 the better.
Then I do a 3 stage polish to pull it back. I'd suggest just going over your whole car with the 3000 and polishing the whole thing or your scratch location will look much brighter the the rest of the car.
It's very time consuming but so worth it

Note: use a squirt bottle filled with soap and water when using the 3000
