^Agreed.

But the way I see it. It SHOULD be (and is) an elitist attitude. If you're the type of douchebag that scoffs when an STi rolls up to an Evo meet. You're not invited to be part of the actual "UtahPACE" small group. It's an elitist attitude of not having an elitist attitude.

But I agree that it should be changed and rephrased, especially on the Facebook Fan site, to better clarify all that.

To answer some questions that booze_up and UT_Evo and others might have: UtahPACE IS an exclusive club. Now please don't misunderstand anything i'm about to say with cockyness, snotty attitude, or anything like that. UT_Evo was correct that it is compiled of a some members and those members are JR, Jason Fairclough, Nate, Saul, and Myself (Josue). We seem to run into this problem a lot, people are misunderstanding that the forums are open to, and we welcome, EVERYONE that wants to join. However, the actual UtahPACE club is exclusive and the last paragraph in our home page describes what the mentality of the club is and also describes what people need to do if they feel they want to be a part of it. Just like JR and the rest of the members always say, We are a club of Enthusiasts NOT a club of cars. you don't need to have a super fast car or anything of that sort in order to truly love cars and have a passion for them. ie, one of our members (Nate) is actually selling his car, so does that mean he's going to be out of UtahPACE because of it? absolutely not. We understand and appreciate the kind of talent that Nate has and the great person that he is all around. that is what we're looking for. Some of the S2K guys had an issue with our "about us" statement as well and they had some great feedback so we made some changes, but even then some were still upset that we wanted to be elite. Others also suggested that we give everybody our UtahPACE stickers for their cars, but we feel that the stickers should be reserved for members of the club only. It boils down to the fact that we do in fact want to surround our club with elite people in their professions, life in general, and obviously and importantly automotive. I can see how the facebook description can be ambiguous and confusing as well. I'm open to suggestions to try and differentiate the actual club from the forum community. Members if i've mis-spoken in any way about the club, please feel free to comment on the above statement. and for anyone that wants to become a fan here is the link ! and to all. Thanks for all the love thus far too!

No I mean you said it. It sucks that people get BUTT HURT, and I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, but I just wanted to be surrounded by people that weren't a bunch of douche bags. The problem with that is you then tell people that not everyone can be in the club......and once you say that EVERYONE FLIPS OUT and says your nose is in the air, or you think your the ****, or who knows what else.

The reality is its not like that at all.

And josue is right. The forums iare for everyone. I think everyone should check out utahpace.com because there is a lot of great discussion going on there. SHOOT, there was a great discussion of what a FP red turbo really is. If you don't know what it is dimension wise....go over there and check it out.

Anyway, does anyone have any suggestions of how we could re-write the paragraph so we don't sound so pompus, but sound more humble in that we are just looking for good people.

Maybe we should just put that.......club looking for nice, good people. :-)

Maybe if you clarify the difference between your forum and the overall group... And the "leaders" of the club or something like that.

I totally understand where you guys are coming from (I think). Like I said, it's an elitist group against being elitist. I know JR pretty well, and I know Jason fairly well too. Both fall in to the group definition for membership for sure.

Maybe just a distinction of UtahPACE the group. And UtahPACE the "club" or something...

I realize I'm sounding like a broken record here, but I think it's worth restating:
With no charter, stated direction, or guidelines for membership, you leave a lot open to interpretation. I know it sounds silly, but even something as trivial as establishing goals or a direction helps you weed out a lot of the pretenders. Furthermore, it helps you recognize who's really contributing, and who's just leaching. Also, what's the incentive to join if you haven't established your goals or direction?

I learn about the local gatherings on these forums already, and nearly all the info I need about my car is already here also. What sets UtahPACE apart? I'm not attacking you. I've read your goals/mission on your homepage several times, as well as your recent posts. At the moment, to distill it down as simply as I can, it says this to me:

"We want to gather the highest caliber people we can on the common ground of kickass cars and have a good time."

Even establishing that in and of itself may help you keep in mind what you're about. If it's more than that, state that. Again, there is absolutely nothing wrong with being exclusive, but generally exclusive groups are headed somewhere. If you'd like to gather the talent, what do you intend to do with it? Are the forums your destination, or your vehicle?

My last suggestion: give the stickers out to anyone who wants one if they have a car that meets your specifications. That's free advertising on wheels right there. If they are sporting your stickers, make sure they've taken the time to post some info about their rides. That's just reverse engineering. If I checked your site out because of a car I saw sporting your sticker, show me the damn car. If you are concerned about the stickers being interpreted as entrance into your club, make a distinction in the stickers between featured cars and member cars.

Please know that I mean no offense with my posting at all. I hope this helps. If it doesn't, thanks for at least wasting the time to read this long *** post.

I'm fine with not being a member because i'm not elite enough. i'll chill with the general "douche bags" cuz i don't know enough about cars to be a member.

This is what I like to see!!! I get so sick of everyone trying to jump into car clubs and get stickers just because it seems bad ***... (well it is) its all about a ton of enthusiasts that love cars! I'll see you at the BBQ!
