I am moving to the San Jose area next month.
Im having a hard time deciding whether or not to bring my evo due to the Smog check. It will be registered as a Florida Vehicle for the atleast a year maybe 2. However, I am currently running a full invidia catless exhaust.
Should i invest in a new Cat-Back and downpipe now or risk driving around? This is all if i bring my car. Transport is covered.

IIRC, law requires you to register your car and obtain a CA license within 90 days of moving. While you might be safe with Florida tags, if you get a ticket, and they find out you've been here longer, you might get a double ticket. What's done to the car? Any chance it would pass with a good cat?

I may try to acquire a full stock exhaust and try to get rid of it anyways. Seems like the best plan.
Oh yeah. Car is already here.

At some point I intend on going SCCA, but it'll probably be a bit until I get tuned and situated. I may see if either I can tune it on a dyno, or maybe I'll luck out and be able to get RRE to tune it while I'm on my way to ship my car. Mainland tuner may be the way to go ultimately, thanks for your reply.

This is pinned to the 808Evo FB page, thought I'd add it here just in case :
Anthony Jay Berry from Drunkmann Tuning is coming to Hawaii!
Dates are Friday October 16 - Sunday October 18
-Cost is $500 total.
-$360 deposit due by September 15 which will pay for the tune.
-$140 payable the day of the tune to Rad Motorsport for dyno time. An additional $140 will be charged if you run over an hour. Anthony said his base maps are dialed in so most cars will be tuned within the hour. He can also road tune if need be to save on dyno fees.
-He is tuning Evo's, subies and mazdaspeed's
-Once the deposit is paid you can contact Anthony directly for Parts suggestions and tuning specific questions.
-Time slots will be reserved on a first come first served basis
-If you need references or would like to see his results you can google him or add him on Facebook and look at his photos.
Payments can be made in person or via Paypal (you pay fees) with reciept or invoice provided
You can call, text or message me or Anthony if you have any questions.
My Number: (845)313-7339
