Question Norcal Evos? Or Meets in general?

Hello EvoM, some of you may know my car from the build thread.

But im gonna get right into the topic.
I may be moving to NoCal sometime this year and I was wondering what the scene was like over there?

1. how are the police towards loud/ tuner cars
2. are there meets/ near by tracks?
3. how often do meets happen?
4. Are there NorCal specific tuner forums that I should sign up for?

Thanks!
I look forward to meeting you all

There is a private FB group (I'm not in it) that does meets and stuff for the Bay Area.

There is this thread too:

Let's start with a city or county you're looking to move to. Then we can give you some info. I have one track less than an hour south of me and another about one and a half hour north of me. Cops are probably too busy to mess with my stock looking stinky exhaust Evo in my current city because they have to deal with real crime. However I've gotten more trouble from cops for being born a minority and driving through affluent white areas.

I'm located in Sacramento and the cops here aren't too bad. I have some bolt ons (Exhaust, Intake, etc.) and am lowered and all that and don't get hassled. I have a downpipe dump with an electronic cutout so I'm not worried about that lol

Haha alright.
sorry for being a cali noob.
Im talking bay area, SFO.

Do you absolutely have to pass SMOG and emissions if you are registered in cali? or are there shops you go to for this? (You can PM me if you want)

I plan on keeping my car registered here but I would like to switch it over to CA if its not a hassle.

Yes you have to pass a smog test to have your car registered in California. I think some remote areas it doesn't matter but if you want to live in SF then yes it needs to be smogged. Your best bet would be to contact shops that work on performance cars and see if they have a hookup. My Evo is modded but it passes the sniffer clean if I make one small change.
