It looks like I may be moving from MI to CA. I did some researching about CA and emissions since we do not have emission test in MI. What is "allowed" and not. Some post I have seen says basically anything out of place is a red flag. My car is in a make over stage with a new engine and some other goodies. I know for a fact it will not make it through.
Looks like I would have to stay stock frame turbo and what else?
Mods-
2.4lr
EF3
Ets front mount w/short route pipe and tial q
full 3'' the no cat
map o2 housing
s3 cams
AEM cam gear
No egr
Fuel E85/93
Sorry if this has been beat to death. I am trying to gauge on whether to sell it in the next year or so.
Thanks!

Hey man, you still running my EF3 I sold ya?
I live in Cali and as far a smog laws go, California is pretty strict. Visual wise, Ive gotten hassled over my couplers that have the ETS logo on them, if that says anything how bad it is. pretty much you want to be as stock as possible to pass visual, or stock looking. Then there is the sniffer test, its tested at idle and at 2500 rpm iirc. Little known secret, there are towns in California that are smog exempt. THis means when you have your car registered from these areas, you only need to smog it the first time then your good. I only know one town up in Norcal. This info isn't really easy to find, I wonder why.lol.
THe laws are gonna get even more strict. If I still end up staying here Im might have to register my car out of state.

I used to get hassled when I was in SoCal with my car even though it was registered in Florida! A cat will be necessary to pass the sniffer test that they do on the dyno. As far as the visual inspection goes, just find one of the places that are "pay if you pass" because they are more willing to have you pass inspection because they don't get any money from you if you fail smog.
Thanks!
