E85 and Emissions

Have to get my emissions tested on Friday. Need some input.

Car's currently running e85 with 880cc injectors. Going to put my cat back on, but was wondering if I'd pass without retuning my Evo.

My buddy has a specific map just for emissions that leans the car out quite a bit, but I don't want to drive the 30 minutes each way with that tune cause I'm afraid of it hurting my engine. My tuner is 30 miles from the emission station so what do you guys suggest ?

Thanks in advance.

Do they perform a sniffer test or just pull the code history from the OBDII port? Also, not sure what sort of map your buddy is going to put on your car but it might not make any difference if your car is not going into open loop fueling.

Yes I'm sure they do the sniffer test.

I really don't see why you wouldn't pass with the stock cat...as far as safety...just don't boost a lot and if you want to be extra careful turn your boost down

Why don't you get the rom from your tuner, get yourself the software to flash your ecu and the tactrix cable and do it yourself so you don't have to worry about driving 30 miles on a different tune??

Man, just dont go into boost. Drive slow & take your time.
You should not have any issues.

Move to Miami, no emission testing here

Yeah I have to get the test done on Friday, gonna see if my tuner will let me borrow his computer for the morning. Probably the best bet.

You don't need a special "lean" flash to pass emissions, IMHO. If you are well tuned you will be fine. I'd stop down the street and turn the boost down to the can pressure just for general purposes.

I read someplace that a car on E85 sans cat emits far less pollution than a gas engine with cat. However, I would put the cat back on just for window dressing.

Please update how your E-test turns out.
