I agree with you also. Phone companies here should just sell the service without contracts and you can pick whatever phone you want with whatever sevice provider you want. Just like in Europe and other parts of the world, it'd be so much better.

whenever sprint comes out with the palm pre it's gonna be sick

t-mobile will replace the phone no questions asked for a year just as long as it's not water damage..you pay the few dollars for shipping is all so if you do accidentally drop it or gets broken they hook ya up I like that about them cuz sometimes **** happens and it sucks spending hundreds of dollars for another phone

Yeah my screen is cracked, battery holds charge for 1.5-2.5 hours, phone randomly turns off multiple times a day. When it does turn off, it talke 10-20 minutes to be able to access anything. Its missing 4 buttons, the ear peice is broken so it sounds like its on speaker phone. Damn this thing looks like it has been through hell and back.

Yeah I made sure to get the insurance on this phone, unlike with the old one. I hope this one can last until I get the new one on Friday.

Happy Sumo and then Terminator on Friday, May 15th for Wes's B-Day (14th) Who is interested?

This is a nice idea but Americans don't understand the concept of paying full price up front for a phone to save money in the long run. You can buy an iPhone without a contract right now (or very soon). It's $599. In Europe it's true that you choose whatever phone you want and then you choose whatever service you want. But they are paying full price for their phones. It's something most Americans don't want to do. They want cheap phones. In turn though we get locked into 2 year contracts. That's how the phone companies make their money back. I would like an iphone but I don't want the data plan. I'm ok with just using the internet on wi-fi. I don't want to sign a contract with at&t and I don't want to pay $599 for one. So I'm just going to wait untill I can find a nice used one for cheaper. When the 3rd gen iPhone comes out this summer with picture messaging and other stuff, the 2nd gen iPhones should drop in price on the used market. Maybe I'll get one then.

Now about the multi-touch on this new G2, I read that Apple has this "multi-touch" feature patented and was going to start a lawsuit against the new Palm Pre which also incorporates the use of this multi-touch feature. It'll be interesting to see how and if this plays out with both Palm and this new G2, if it ever comes out. This patent by apple is the reason all touch screen phones out right now are only single touch, the companies that make them don't want to go up against Apple and lose.
Excellent breakdown Juan. And yeah, the multi-touch is probably patented... It isn't really all that amazing on the iPhone (zooming in and out is really the only cool thing) but on my laptop, oh my God. I will never have a laptop without multi touch again. I can scroll around with two fingers, go back and forward with 3 and view all my windows with 4 (like alt-tab on a mac). And that's just the basics! Plus there's the zooming like the iPod/iPhone

Yeah, my friend has it on his G1, it sucks though The tracing on it is kind of weird, but it does what it needs to do.

I'm game. Maybe. Matinees are the way to do movies though, so I may be seeing it earlier.

I pay 15 a month for unlimited messaging and shared 600 min, with free mobile-mobile calling to any t-mobile phone. Service plans keep getting worse and worse, and ours is an insane good deal. And I can always add data and get EDGE on my iPhone and still pay less than the stupid ATT plan!

All the other companies give unlimited wireless for free with their data plans, last I checked, but it is another 20 buck upgrade (so from 69.99 to 89.99). They charge 30 a month for the data plan alone, and it is required!

Ah yes, I forgot this detail about paying full price for a phone. When I tried to get the 3g iPhone in january it was only $399 without contract and $199 when I'm eligible for upgrade in june. Prices have gone down quite a bit since they first came out in '07. This was the 8gb model.
