I rode in a car once that had the "bolt" mod and it sounded just fine (though the factory radio quality in the Evo was lacking anyway). Basically there's a bolt that you can buy at home depot that threads perfectly into the spot, and then has a rubber cap that can go over it so you basically end up with a <$5 shark fin type antenna.

I was going to do that, but my dad removed the radio from the S2000, so I took the S2000's antenna and it was short enough

I wonder what the radio is like on the STi without the antenna, even the shorty ones look silly on the car, a CF roof with nothing on it would be perfect... If I take it off, and it doesn't look too funny or sound horrible and it fits in the Ralliart antenna slot, you're welcome to have it for like 5-10 bucks. Or maybe I'll see if you can do the bolt mod with the STi antenna. Radio FTL anyway though!

Josh (LHM Subaru one): Can you see if they are still selling, or have stopped the stop sell of H501SFG500 (The SPT boost gauge for the 2008/2009 WRX/STi). Since it matches the factory interior and goes up to 20 PSI it would be perfect, but I heard Subie did a stop sell on them because of the problems they were having.

Thanks Jake. I'll check out Home Depot too to see if I can find it. Any idea which section of Home Depot he found this bolt?

No clue at all. It was forever ago that I remember it even... You could try searching on EvoM (as well as that works... ) for info about it.

You could always undo the antenna from your car, take it inside, and say that you need a bolt with the same thread pattern.

not sure man...thing that sucks is how long ago you bought it. Anyone could say look dude I sold it to you in working condition and a month later you say it's no good, like if it would've been the next day. When we dropped Josh's tranny the other day doing his clutch it's easy to see right there if it's messed up or not, the shop told you that before they installed it right?? It's just going to be hard with a cash purchase trying to figure out how to handle your situation man if he'll work with you on giving some $ back to fix it. I'm assuming it has to be taken apart to fix that input shaft bearing so not sure if you want to try to fix it your self or not. Also not sure how things are handled across states? Small claims court??

he admited he knew it was damaged, his thing is he claims i should of replaced it anyway which is wrong cause you have to pull the trans apart and also have to reshim the diff to do a new bearing.

its gonna cost me 300 to get it fixed at the min, i guess he parents called him and said that i called them threating to sue which is BS. i said i wanted to get ahold of him before i have to pursue it in small claims. All i want is him to help me out with a partial refund or buy it back. Something to make it right cause i was expecting a trans i could just bolt in being thats what i was told

I say go to his house in person with the trans and talk to him or his mom/dad. Face to face seems to work better for me then over the phone or evoM. Or send a letter every day along with a phone call at 7:30am and 9:30pm to remind him and family how upset you are about him selling you a busted trans. none of it is illegal. just an idea or two.
