I'll be installing my WORKS HFC this weekend. I'll post some pics too! The WORKS HFC is one quality piece!

O.K. I have a question. When I called and talked to Tyler he said that I needed to have the writing "for off-road use only" facing the car. However, Marksae has his writing facing down. Which way is correct??

According to the instructions, the heat shield should be "towards the vehicle". I did notice very tight clearance between the cat and heat shield though. But I don't have any rattling issues.

Agreed! The instructions did say to make sure the heat shield is towards the vehicle. I install mines with the heat shield towards the vehicle. That makes the "off road only" words visible. As I recall, I also saw a pic either posted by WORKS or someone else that had the "off road only" words facing down.

As I understand it, the cat can be mounted either way. Technically/legally it should be mounted with "Off Road Use Only" to the ground (so it's visible on inspection) and that's WORKS official position (hence the installation instructions).

However, this is only because it's not certified for street legal sale at the moment.

From an operational standpoint, the cat will function the same if the marking is facing the car. Of course, that means if somone mounted the HFC on a street car (which I'm sure no person on the boards would do) it would not be noticed as a Racing Program piece on inspection (ie. if a cop stopped them or if they smogged their car).

Absolutely! We have it on the WORKS MR right now. We do recommend the ceramic coating to keep the heat away from the ACD and other drivetrain components.

There is only a slight variation in the heat shield depending on which way you mount it. WORKS has intended the lettering to face down as per the instructions. I (like Garrick) have mine mounted with the lettering facing up--1100 miles and no worries here

It will work as I recently installed the 76mm dp on my EVO 7 RS which has the ACD system.

Beautiful craftsmanship, fitment!

Thanks Jamie, I called again tonight and Tyler told me that it should have the lettering facing the car. So, i am going to assume that either way is fine since you have yours mounted the same way.

Does mounting it w/ the letters facing up give more clearance between the cat and the adjacent heat shield?

Hey Mark, It did give me a little more clearance, but I have flipped it over since I took those pics, and have not had any rubbing issues with it set like yours.
