how is CA. SMOG with WORKS 269 cams and P2 flash

Hello Jaime,

i was wondering if the P2 flash along with your 269 I/E cams are able to pass CA emissions?? i too am in CA and was wondering if there is any problem with them passing the sniffer?? also-how is the idle?? does your flash smooth them out? i will not be running a SAFCII or any other fuel control if i decide on your flash and cams.
thank you for your time.

anyone else have the same set up and want to share your thoughts??

WORKS does not have any CARB certification for our cams at this time, but have had our TR340 package (with the 269 cams) tested on the sniffer and it came out cleaner than an unmodified EVO. Change in idle is slight and the non-EVO community probably wouldn't even notice it. It has been reported that the flash does help smooth things out.

Man, if the WORKS 269 cams were CARB approved, I'd be all over it! I had to swap cams to make my GSX pass smog. The lumpy idle I had w/ the 272s sent the HC count through the roof.

make sure you warm up the hiflo cat a LOT! I almost failed on my first smog test because the cat was not warm enough. I did pass with 269 cams and a p2 flash.

This is off the CA DMV website:

Vehicles registered in areas subject to the biennial smog certification program are required to submit evidence of a smog certification every other renewal period. Starting January 1, 2005, owners of vehicles six or less model years old will pay an annual smog abatement fee for the first six registration years instead of being required to provide a biennial smog certification.
So new cars don't need to get smogged for 6 years now! It used to only be 4. I like this new law!

Thanks! That's good to know. I couldn't hook it up to the machine last night. I got held up in traffic and they were already closing shop. Which hi-flow cat do you have? I have the Ultimate Racing HFC. I'll post my findings this weekend when I stop by the shop again.

I just got the WORKS 269 Cams installed along with my aperture, and Buschur turbo back exhaust. I'm still in the breakin period, but I can already tell you the car has a significant amount of power that wasn't there before with these cams. Idle is still lumpy even with the WORKS Flash for the cams and i'm hoping it smoothes out over time once the cams are finished being broke in.
