Evo IX

I'm not sure if you guys (works) would even know yet, but will the current exhaust for the VIII fit the IX as well? I want to buy an exhaust for the summer but plan on putting it back to stock when I sell it for the IX MR and putting it on. Any other information that you have regarding the IX would be very much appreciated!!

It's the same rear bumper man, it should fit. Nothing back there has changed (to the best of my knowledge).

Yes I know that the USDM is the same as the VIII, I just wanted to make sure that everything would fit the same. didn't the 03-05 have slightly different downpipe?

The WORKS Exhale components fit both the VII and the VIII without any changes in our original design. (We did our homework on a VII before the VIII was even released in the US.) We fully expect these same components to fit the IX, but cannot say for certain until we actually get our hands on one.

They're going to see the IX a bit more on the 23rd (according to their site).

I don't think anybody will be able to do a test fit but the Mitsu reps might have info re: availability (maybe fitment too). I wish they'd show us the JDM rear diffuser. I want to see if it's worth 6-700.

Depends. It looks awesome so I would say it's worth it based on looks. If you want a good diffuser, then the Vishnu one should be sufficient. I have seen several non-stock photos of IXs and they looked awesome. Bad part: Looks impossible to fit a license plate on it.

so does anyone from Works have any new information on the IX? I am considering importing the JDM rear for my IX (when i get it) and it doesn't look like the exhaust will fit. Mitsu japan says that any JDM Evo 8 exhaust will fit, but they couldn't say if exhausts made for our USDM VIII would fit on the JDM bumper. The reason I want to know so bad is that I want to buy Work's exhaust, but don't want to be stuck with it when I get my IX. I'm hoping I can just swap them.

Typically, the JDM bumper covers don't protrude as far out as the USDM version. The routing has been the same and our exhaust runs on a few VIIs as well. The tip does tend to stand out a little more and may not sit flush as it does with the US models.

so in other words, your ABM for the VIII should fit up correctly, but adding the JDM rear will make the exhaust stick out a little past the bumper? Would that be any reason not to do it other than cosmetically? how much will it stick out? the current USDM stock exhuast sits back a little than being completely flush with the bumper.

You got it. The ABM currently sits just a little back from the bumper cover as well.

Here's a picture of a VII w/ our exhaust: http://ivanko.com/products/prd_text/...I_RS_RHD3.html
Note: The tip on this unit was a straight-cut limited edition AB and is not the current angled tip found on the ABM.

wow, that a nice looking 7! I guess if anything my bumper won't get blackened with it sticking out a little like that. Thanks for your help jamie! I'll be ordering soon.
