252 awhp on what Dyno? A Dynojet? If so that's about a 2whp gain on a Mustang Dyno as I have it calculated. I am curious to know if anyone has picked up additional gas mileage with their EVO after installing one over the stock or K&N.

Let me see if I understand you correct. You are claiming a 9hp gain from the filter alone?

You just said you dyno'd at 243 and he did 252. Both 05's and stock? or did his have the filter in it.

I am confused now because earlier you indicated you dyno'd 9hp higher with just the filter.

I would be AMAZED if you got another 9hp from the filter alone if that were the case.

Also on what type of Dyno? A DynoJet?

Most EVO's dyno in around 218whp on a Mustang Dyno.

My 2005 MR dyno'd stock at 218whp and a GSR that same day dyno'd (stock) at 215whp. So those numbers are consistent.

The 252whp numbers you are shooting out to me remind me of the 2wd Dynojet numbers that David Buschur used with his Buschur Stage kits on his website.

If I added another 12.5% difference (calculated from 2wd vs. 4wd) back into my #'s I would have dyno'd around 245whp in my 2005 MR I used to have. Which is where your buddies numbers are at on a stock 2005.

yes azn's car had only works air filter nothing else pulling 252hp, dynojet dyno was within like an hour of each others pulls. After seen the results i was sold on the works filter and have one ordered now, and no i dont work for works just posting what the dyno results were that day. Also same stock rims\tires.

Yep, I already placed my order today for one. I am curious to see what the difference is between it and the drop-in K&N I have.

I was thinking about doing a dyno run with the stock, then the K&N, then the WORKS on a mustang 4wd dyno up here.

I would be curious to know the results.

Also right now I am averaging 22.0-22.5mpg with the K&N filter. I will be curious to see what I can average a tank with the WORKS to see if the flow improvements help atomize the fuel/burn a little better. If I can get into the 24-26mpg range I will have considered this an awesome investment bar none.

Well I just wanted to report back on what I have seen after replacing my K&N drop-in with the Works drop-in filter.

Things noticed immediately -

1. Idle was a little smoother.
2. A little quicker throttle response.
3. Pulls a little stronger up top in the RPMs (from about 5750-7000RPM), not as laggy.
4. This is a bigee -
a. Car appears to be getting more air because I can sit in rush hour traffic (stop/go) and leave it in 1st gear and literally idle down in gear without stalling/bucking.
b. NO bucking/surging when getting back on the throttle.
c. The characteristics would be identical to how an automatic transmission behaves in stop/go traffic.

Hope this helps.

Right now I am at about 1/4 tank of gas. As it stood I was averaging spot on at approximately 22.0mpg with normal driving.

After I fill up over the weekend and drive over the course of next week (doing normal driving) I will post my results on what I average per tank of gas to see 'real world' if the filter and it's 25% better flow characteristics make a noticeable difference in fuel mileage.

I am expecting it will and I look forward to confirming this if it's the case.

Limpshot, you and I have identical cars (color and all).

Let me know if you confirm the same things I noticed above on my 2005 Apex Silver EVO would you?

It would be nice to see if others are noticing what I have.

Boy, you know I really wasn't paying attention to that. I will have to try a couple of WOT runs to see if I notice any difference as well as some low RPM/gear combinations to see if I notice any quicker spool up.

Make sure you keep an eye open for that once you put yours in a let us know also.
