Is the P1 worth it?

I have decided to go with WORKS for the few performance mods I am going to do - Drop-In Air Filter, ABM, and Flash. I am paranoid about manipulating the boost in any way, and also putting in that new tube, so I am shying away from the P2. I am wondering if the P1 will be noticable to me. My Evo is my daily driver. I don't track it or race it or anything, I just enjoy the power and handling, but I would like a little more something. I am interested in the P1 because of the mild bump in gas mileage and a more usable power band. Does anyone have any experience with the P1 on a 2005 Evo? I read that it really helped the 03/04's but I am not sure about the 05's. Thanks in advance.

you know, I didn't even know they sold that anymore. . .good question, I'd be curious to know since I really didn't want to tinker around with the boost hoses, but wanted a flash to raise hp, smooth out the jerkiness, and add a 2-step launch control. . .wait, Oliver, is the 2-step part of the P1, or do you guys just raise the rev limit?

if your going with there parts and mods, just go after the P2. its worth it.

i had my rpm limit raised to the 8k limit, boost increased slightly, boost taper is almost non exsistant, boost cut removed, fuel cut removed, and forgot to tell them to add in the two step. mine is also tuned for the WR turbo.

Yep, I hear nothing but great things about the P2. I guess the two things that turned me off were the difficulty of installing the boost tube (I'm not mechanically inclined, nor do I want to start taking things apart under the hood) and the thread about the guy who went to Mitsubishi and they replaced his WORKS boost hose with a stock one! Maybe I'm just being paranoid...

The P1 is probably most useful for those participating in race series where you're not allowed to raise the boost level from stock.

the boost hose is no big deal. it is three little hoses that are arranged just like stock and is already assembled. all you would have to do is take off the air box scoop and look down at the turbo inlet hose and you can see the small hose that goes to the wastegate actuator(the gold canister thingy with the rod sticking out). that is it. replace that tube and your done. about 20min for the amatuer or 40 for the novice.

about them replacing the tube, i really dont think they knew the difference because the tube IS IDENTICAL in appearance to the stock hose. the "pill" inside the tube is slightly different. dont be skurrd....

The WORKS Brain Flash P1 is definitely worth it and (as mentioned), the P2 is even better because of the boost control. I understand where you're coming from as far as tinkering with boost levels, installation, etc... We can e-mail you a copy of the installation instructions and you can look those over before you make a decision. (They'll also tell you how to get at your ECU.)

The P1 Flash still gives you improved power delivery by bumping HP and TQ levels as well as improving fuel economy. The overall rev limiter is raised slightly. I can't say I recall anyone request a P1 with the 2-stage rev limiter (most are going for the P2R), but it is certainly something WORKS can incorporate into a P1R flash

Just give us a call if you have any other questions.
