I am curious to know if the stated gains on these cams are all from the cam or cam + tune.

It would be nice to see a nice tuned stage 1 IX vs. same car with these cams. I could be wrong, but my guess is the gains from 'just' the cams are less than what is being stated.

The dyno shows a tr-340 car without cams which includes a p2r, then the other dyno was with the cams and a "NEW" tune...... Get it?

I'm curious to know if you actually took the time to read this thread... because if you did, you would know the answer to this. The dyno graph is the TR-340 package (which INLUDES a tune) and the same car with the addition of the cams and a retune for them. Of course the gains won't be from just the cams... who the hell is gonna put them in with no tune? That's just retarded. Some of you need to use some common sense.

Just curious and possibly a future cam customer?
Because you've purchased the WORKS Brain Flash P2e, we will include the upgraded tune for free if/when you purchase the Cosworth cams from us in the future. Yes, the tune is relatively fresh, but we'll have all the appropriate flashes for various octanes available in the next few weeks.

soo my question is can the evo IX s stock bottom end hold close to 400whp on a mustang dyno...i really dont wanner blow up my engine.. help me out guys,, wot do u guys think.. can the stock bottom end hold 400hp at high revs????... ....
The stock bottom end has proven to be quite stout. I would keep revs limited to 8K until upgrades are made (provided you use the WORKS or Cosworth springs/retainers up top).

Can you say if there is much loss in power off boost?
Aside from a little break-in driving, I honestly haven't had the chance to drive with the Cosworth cams yet Those that have are hanging out at SEMA this week.

I have read the whole thread. Why am I confused? Because I have only very simple bolt ons, with a safe 91 octane tune, and Im making more power on a Mustang dyno than that car 'with' cams.

You'll be hard pressed to find two mustang dynos that will record the same power numbers using the same car. Especially on different days with different conditions.
Again, if you go back and read through this thread, you'll see that the point of Works posting the dyno graph is to compare the *gain* in power from having the TR-340 mods with no cams to being cammed(and tuned for it). Not to say "we can make eleventy billion horsepower with our cams". Dynos are great for gauging how much of a gain or loss you make, but not for top numbers bragging.

So from the graph, *you* they gained 11% more power, on average, across the powerband.

Edit: You have meth injection? That makes your comparison kind of skewed.

I'm just thinking that the baseline is a little off/low - I can understand the "Get it" comment, but do you understand where I am going? Shiv commented that a Works IX typically (The ones that he has seen) puts down more power than the baseline shown here?

I have several parts from Works (Top Notch!) and truly appreciate the wonderful customer service (Again, Top Notch!) - so pls don't mistake me for the common obnoxious butth*le When I feel satisfied, I'll be calling Oliver or Jamie - it's been a little while since I gave them some business

Whatever the peak numbers are is pointless... the car coulda put out a peak of 800/750 or a peak of 100/30... doesn't matter. It's the gain they made across the rev range.

The gains are specifically what I'm talking about

- It was either Jamie or Oli that said it right; let's just wait and see more results, this was 1 car

I'm not running meth yet.... I will be well past 340whp when I get that finished this weekend. I am coming from the position of horsepower to dollar and what makes the most sense.

The WORKS TR340 package including the cams runs just under 3 grand and is making low 300s whp. I, and dozens of other IX owners on EvoM, have about 1500 n change into our IXs and are making more whp with stock cams and safe tuning. I'll even spot you 15whp and call it even. All the local IXs here in Tucson with the same setup Im running are all in the mid 320s... and thats in AZ heat with terrible gas.

I'm not questioning the gains with the cams, I'm questioning the entire method and cost they have chosen to obtain 313whp (in cool weather). But to each there own I guess.

Why do you guys keep pushing your valve spring and retainer kit with these cams when Cosworth has already stated there is no need as long as the stock rev limit is used.

Hey teknishnIX,

How's that warranty on those parts for 1500 n change? Well, this discussion keeps "rolling" around the numbers, and some of you wonder why we don't discuss Dyno's all that often. There are too many variables concerning power and dyno operation in general that comparisons are all but irrelevant. Why do people keep choosing to talk about two differentiating scenerios to make their point. Oh well, I suppose the thread keeps growing. I'm sure there will be more results over the next few weeks concerning the Cosworth Cams, so stay tuned. Oh, and the thread title should have cleared any issue as to what was important for discussion purposes.

Sincerely,

Oliver Simons
