sorry if this (and i'm sure it is) is a stupid question, but you have to get the P1 flash BEFORE you get the P2 flash, right? and just to be clear, these can be done without any other mods to the car?

Jstockdale, stage 1+ = bye bye M3 at any speed.btw Good to hear that you are happy with the FQ 333 pkg. I am happy with my Stage 1+ which = fQ 400 pkg on 100 oct and fQ 360-370 on 91 octane. I am a little surprised that you couldn't pull on the M3 above 85 mph. But still impressive in my book. Just race them in your sweet spot 40-125 and shut it down. Who needs to go above 125mph anyways.

You can get the P2 without ever getting the P1. The P2 does require changing out a boost hose assembly, though.

I actually wasn't racing the M3's, I was running with them. I didn't ever fall behind, but beyond keeping up just find I didn't have a good measure of whether I was faster or the M3 was faster.

I'd be damn surprised if your package (the S1+) can pull any better than mine on a M3. Shiv's high end torque curves arn't that impressive, and we're talking about going against a 343 hp V6 with a nice torque curve, and a 6 speed transmission. The problem is that because our gear spacing sucks above 85 mph, you're going to need gobs of power to get the same kind of acceleration as a M3.

I really think that the WORKS 333 package could keep up just fine with an M3 in a full on race, even above 85 MPH. The torque factor is considerable on this package. As a guage I recently ran with a new S2000 that challenged me at about 75 MPH when he was deep into the powerband of the VTEC....completeley destroyed him. The Evo stock has a hard time with S2000's over 75-85 MPH. The torque is a key factor.

In a year or two, we are going to see more amazing things from our cars. In Japan, race Evo's see a gain of about 60HP from ecu tuning. Once current ecu tuning proves itself safe and reliable, we should see even more aggressive tuning for our cars. Maybe a P3.

JStocksdale, I am not trying to say the stage 1+ Vishnu is better than the Work's 333pkg. However, I thought your set-up would walk an M-3 as your hp/tq per weight ratio is better. High end torque shouldn't be that big of a factor at speeds above 85mph. I might be way off here but correct me if I am wrong. I thought where tq falls off hp takes over and keeps the car moving. BTW What is the torque on the 333 pkg. I believe I have at least equal/ similar tq #s as your pkg. IMO, If you are at 333hp/tq at the crank you should be able to walk a stock M3.HP/TQ/wieght all in your favor so I would surmise bye bye M3.

Low end power = torque, high end power = horsepower...

Yer forgetting that race EVO's don't use the standard ECU, they use aftermarket ECUs that have a higher resolution, no MAF or O2 sensing or any type of safety sensor. Besides the fact that most "race" EVOs have a ton of other mods I don't know how you can quantify what the ECU is doing alone in such cases.

Actually some of the race Evo engines are more stock than modified compare to other full blown race engines. Yes they are moded but more towards chasis, suspenion, aerodynamics, transmission and weight reduction. and some of these Evo's only make around 350whp. I believe the Rally version makes even less. But don't think these cars are slow, they are very fast on the track and the 1/4 mile due to stiffer chasis, lower weight and other mods. Recently, I read the Speed magazine which showed an Evo out running couple of cars on the track. The article I believe says the engine itself was not modded much except the ECU tuning which help the Evo gain 60hp.

BTW 60hp is not same as 60whp. The point is ECU tuning is one of the vital parts to make high HP. I can guarantee you, if you brought your Evo to one of the tuners, they can custom tune your ECU to put out more HP than what most of us get through the mail. You can put all the bolt on parts and gain a decent power but with proper ECU tuning, you'll see even more power from these parts and run safely. That being said you can bet your money that in the future we will see better ECU tuning that will give more power as there will be lot more performance parts available for the Evo. And if California gas ever becomes 93 octane, lot of us will gain additional 5 to 10whp with a 93 octane reflash.

Hmm... Well, my Evo is stock, performance wise and I raced my wife in her 03 S2K, she has/had an HKS exhaust and a drop in filter. I told her to hit it first and I would play catch up. I figured if she was gonna pull on me it wouldnt matter regardless who went first. Anyways she stayed ahead until 4th when I caught her and shifting to 5th I started to pull away, not much but I was pulling maybe 1 car ahead (this is after starting 2-3 cars back) and we shut down at about 120 mph. BTW yes she can drive, she was pretty much redlining every gear.

But now I have my turboback and getting the P2 soon, so bye, bye S2K
