Please help me clear this up 2.4L EVO engine
I thought because of the EVO 4G63 block being flipped to the other side you could not use a 4G64 bottom end on an EVO? Or is it the bottom end off the 4G eclipse 2.4L 4G69?
I have a 2.4L 4G69 sitting around so if that’s the case ill just send that to SBR to get it done but if not I would rather order a 2.3L from AMS.
Please help me figure this out I just sold my old DSM’s and want to order my short block on Monday.

Really?
Because we DO use a 4g64 block. Its increase in displacement is from the increase in stroke. 100mm (64) vs 88mm (63) and also a bit of a bore increase.
Stock bore on a 4g64 is 86.5mm (64) vs 85mm (63)
The 4g64 is also a taller block than the 4g63. 6mm taller. Which means you need a longer timing belt as well. Other than that, its basically the same as a 4g63 engine of the corresponding chassis. 2G style 7 bolts sat on the drivers side ala' DSM. So did 4g64's in Galants etc of the same years.
When it went over to the passenger side in the 3g stuff. They were able to be used in an Evo. Just like a DSM.
All your misc bracketry etc will bolt up, with the exception of the H20 pump, but we include a spacer. Oil pumps etc. All bolt up stuff.
The 2.3XX motor he's talking about, is the 100mm crank in a bored 4g63 engine. Or commonly reffered to as the "2.3l". Different deck height, different pistons etc.
If you are after a 2.4l short block. Please, I'll be happy to build one for you.
