ra gear swap into oz
ra gear swap into oz
ok heres the deal i'm getting together the info and parts now to swap a 4g64 2.4L into my oz .now as far as the tranny theres to ways of going bout this either 1: swap out the lancer gears into the 2.4L tranny (00-05 eclipse tranny) so the axles and everthing bolts up. or 2: use the eclipse tranny and gears and shorten the stock eclipse axles . i'm kinda leaning towards 1 cause cutting axles and rewelding doesnt sound all that safe really. which brings me to my 3rd ? does anyone know if ra gears will fit into a regular lancer tranny (es,ls,oz). cause if it does that means most likely that they would fit into the eclipse tranny. any help and ideas are more then welcomed
one more thing does anyone know if the ra tranny will bolt up to the 2.4L eclipse motor since the ra is a 2.4 also . i know there different engine codes ra(4g69) and the eclipse is a 4g64. but its worth a try since a evo head will bolt right up to the block

I don't think anyone has ever gotten that involved into a Lancer's tranny before...so probably your answer is no. But not to say it's not possible. You just might have to be the first!
I swap Civic gearing all day long in & out of '92-'95s...so it's not a new idea.
Wish yah luck!

It's possible to swap the internals of the 94 tranny into the 64 tranny, you can read up on it in Engine Tech. A guy swapped out his 94 for a 64 and put his 94 gears in the 64 tranny. I'm not sure if the 69 gears will go in either direction, i'm afraid. Good luck to you man, hope this all works out.
see ive read that and that was my plan from the get go but then i remembered that the ra has different gearing to make it quicker. so i figured if the 94 gears fit in the 64 already then maybe the 69 gears may. does anyone also know if the ra axles are stronger then the regular lancer ales if anyone else has some input let me know

I know that the axles of both the 4G69 and 4G94 are the same size and have the same spline count cause the spindles of the Ralliart and Lancer are the exact same. I simply swapped out the entire front spindle assemblies when I converted my OZ to 5-lug with Ralliart components.
The only thing that needs to be verified is if the 4G69 and 4G94 axles are the same size and spline count on the inners that insert into the trans.

Yes it will. Both the Lancer and Ralliart trannies use the same forks, rails and gears with the exception of the final gear and 5th gear. The part numbers for the forks, rails and gears are the same.
Depends on what you what for 5th gear. You don't have to but you could swap it out. You would be at a higher RPM cruising in 5th and would use more gas if you swapped out 5th gear also.
Does anyone know if the ralliart differential is the same as the oz diff? If they have the same part number then the axles would fit both. Then again the same comparison could be done with the axles.
