They are 2 seperate sensors , the cam shaft sensor is on the top of the engine closer to the driver side , and the crankshaft position sensor is behind the timing cover on the passenger side of the car.

Do they require special tools to change? Are they difficult to change?

On my lancer the check engine light is on; planning to change the O2 sensor. Anyone know where that is located?

There's two o2 sensors. One on the exhaust manifold and one near the catback (aka after cataylic converter or down stream). Hopefully you won't need to heat them up to pull them off.
