Um not much engine work. Injen SRI, and a couple things to clean the bay up a tad. Hopefully within the next year I'll have a motorcycle that I can DD so I can put in some good work on the Lancer. This is the most recent pic I have. Its from about a week and a half ago.

Well, this was the secodn time I painted it, so I had to strip all the old paint off, so it was a tad bit harder. But overall its not hard to do at all. Just take everything off the top of the VC, remember where everything goes, carefully pull the cover off, carefully take out the gasket. I hung my VC gasket on a handle to a cabinent in my garage so it wouldnt get dirty or messed up so I could reuse it (it had only been on the car for a month). Then give the VC a light sand with like 800 grit. Tape off the spark plug holes and the oil filler hole, and the two nipples. Then set it on like two paper towel roles or something so you can paint all the way to the edge. Light coats, let it dry, put it back on. Its pretty simple.

And personally I wouldnt paint it with it on the car, if you do it that way its going to be a super complicated tape job. And then you run the risk of getting paint everywhere you dont want it and missing spots. It takes 5 mins to take the VC off and get it ready for paint, you'll spend 4 times that trying to tape everything while its in the car.

what kind of paint did you use?

btw your engine bay looks almost identical with yellow top, sri intake, and no windshield washer fluid tank xD

And my second favorite color is orange, first is green

How are the TenzoR springs? How much drop? I was thinking about getting some and some 17x8's...not as much offset though.

I used the high heat engine paint from Advance auto. And funny you say green, thats how my car used to be And yea I ditched the windshield washer tank forever ago. Mine was always empty anyways so one day when I had the bumper off I said screw it and yanked it all out.

And the TenzoR's are pretty decent. It dropped the back about 1.5'' and then the sub set up dropped it another 1'' in the back. However, in the front it only dropped about .5'' if that. I would deff get the tien's or something else instead. Only reason I'm using these is I got them for 20$ and you can't beat that. The ride is really good with them though, deff stiffer than stock and not super bouncy either.

qurtle- I bought them off of ebay. Both seats, and the hardware ran me 400$ shipped to the house. I just had to buy brackets which cost me another 250$. Altogether it was 650$ so it wasn't bad.

Great looking lancer man. I really love those rims and tires! Really great work here!
Hey how did you go about painting the interior dash from grey to black?

What did you use? Was it alot of work? Details if you can.
Been trying to find some tips on that.
Really would appreciate it! Thanx

Thanks man! This car has been a ton of headaches and good times, but I like the way she's turned out.

As for painting the dash, it wasn't very complicated, but took a lot of work to get it to turn out good.
All you need is:
Warm, soapy water
Degreaser
Vinyl/upholstery paint, I got it at Advanced auto for 7$ a can
Newspaper
Painters tape

First you have to clean it with some warm soap and water, then lightly scuff it with 1000+ grit. Then degrease it, I used Simple Green. Then you have to tape everything off. This is where it gets tricky, you gotta get the painters tape down into the crack between the dash and the windshield all the way across, tape off the vin plate, and the sensor thats on the dash, then tape off the who windshield with news paper. Litterally tape off the who windshield, I thought I would be good just covering half, but then I spent about 2 hours with a magic eraser trying to get the paint off. Then you gotta tape the sides where the door close off, once again tape everything or will you get a bunch of paint in the door jam, again I thought just a little bit of coverage would work, but now I have a ton of over spray in my door jams, then take ouf the instrument panel or tap it off, your choice, I took it out because it was easier. Cover the steering wheel and anything else that doesn't need to get painted. Spray it very light, even coats, allowing about 15-20 minutes between coats. The biggest thing is to not rush because you wont see puddles or parts that look bad until you've let it all dry and pull the tape off and look at it from outside of the car. That and tape and cover everything, its better to be safe than sorry, the paint particle really travel around alot inside the car.

Wow, well yea that sounds about right...alright man thanx! yea i really want to basically do what you did change it from gray to black. ugh well i gotta find time for that little project.

anyways thanx, oh and few more questions, by any chance did you ever have the K&N Intake? or is the Injen one is the only one you ever had? Cause I have the K&N sri (not sure if you seen it before) but im seriously thinking about going with the one you have because it looks like that one catches considerably higher amounts of more cool air since it is away from the headers and what not. Or is there another brand you would recommend?

And my other last question when you got your tires and rims, on your very last picture on page 2 of this thread, I noticed your front wheels stick out about an inch...is that just the wheel size itself? Or was that a suspension mod that does that? I don't really know too much about suspension mods. But is that like a coil over? or a spacer or something?

The only other intake I've ever had was the stock one so I cant tell you which one is better. All I know is that with the bumper, hood, and grill combo that I have you can hear the air getting sucked into the intake. And yea the rims and tires I have now stick about an inch and a half in the front, and it is because of how wide they are with a low offset, which pushes the rims out farther from the car.
