My 02 OZ Rally lancer. Needs lots more work.
We'll if you do source a head with good valves I would say your options would be:
1. If it is a mirage head either keep the 4g93 cam or swap in your 4g94 cam for simple plug and play, the 4g93 cam will require the use of a 4g93 cam position sensor.
2. swap in your new lifters and possibly rocker assemblies (which ever look nicer
)
Besides give you some some possible trouble codes for cam and crank position sensors there are no proven results. However I personally like it and don't have a problem with it. I run my car to 6k RPMs almost every time I drive it.
Also, I don't know if this was just my case or not but I require 93 octane to run smoothly now, not sure if the aggressive cam has anything to do with that or not.

Yeah. We don't know for sure how many miles were on the emgine amd how well it was taken care of before I got it. The car was a delivery parts car for a performance shop, and they did all the work to the car with swapping the tranny and transmission. Stupidly, we did not ask them about the paper work for the swap... so we r not poaitive how many miles but if it was 72,000 miles when I got thw car then I put roughly 40,000 on the car. I took care of it but who knows how they took care of it or the people before them. The body has roughly 250,000 miles on it. Still looks pretty damn good. Except for some small scratches they had on the bumper when I bought it. And some miner paint chips and scraps from going to college and the idiots that are inconsiderate to other peoples cars..
Considering all things the car doesn't seem like it had too much of a rough life. I'm sure we have seen worst. If you're not comfortable with it, probably you should just get a used engine.
We just aren't sure how that bottom end looks right now and since I'm still driving on it with the ticking a new engine would probably be the best idea. Plus the engine we are looking at had only 24,000 miles on it and the junk yard it is at went through it really well and my dad knows them pretty well. So I believe that engine would be well worth getting plus the guy we might have swap the engine will replace my motor mounts and go through my tangy to make sure that's all good and what ever else he is concerned about. But yet we r not positive on what we are going to do.

Could you post a video of what sound the motor is making? Sometimes ticking isn't really that big of an issue. Mine has been making a little noise for the past 30k miles and I'm turbo. Just a little valve lash
But we r picking up the engine tomorrow. Not positive when the swap will start, but we are prolly taking it to a dads friends shop and he's going to replace all my motor mounts and possibly check out my tranny while he's under the hood. I'm thinking of running a full synthetic oil, but not sure what I should use. Anyone have any opinions on a good synthetic? ?
Well... Monday marks the day that my car starts the engine swap. The car will sadly be down for around a week.
but it will be really nice to have a good engine in it and not have to worry about it.
