Maybe whatever connects the motor to the glass became disconnected? Unfortunately, the only way to inspect the moonroof parts is to remove the headliner.

sounds like what happened to me. mines was if i pulled on the glass as i hit the button it would open or close. i fortunatly was under warrenty and took it in they told me the motor disconnected and they just had to reconnect it. but to do so they have to drop the headliner. good luck with that

p.s. you have and 04 you should still have some of your warrenty on that dont you???

I can't imagine that the headliner is too hard to remove. Pull off the A, B, and C pillars, and any trim for the moon roof, then from there it should just be clipped in. Tomorrow I can check my manual and make sure there's nothing else to it.

Here's everything that needs to be removed to pull the headliner. Not too much.
