I just bought an 05 ralliart..haven't done anything to it yet but was at least going to take out stock air filter and slip in a K&N...can this be done by just unclipping the top 2 silver clamps and pulling housing apart enough..or do i have to loosen the 3-4 bolts at bottom of housing and actually dismantle the whole damn thing?

 

Just unclip the two silver clamps and pull out the OEM filter...then install the K&N. It will be a little bit hard at first (the K&N is just a little bigger that the oem), but you should not have any problem at all.
