Stock Speakers....

Installed a new headunit earlier and noticed that this head unit can be very very loud lol

so i was wondering how much our stock speakers can actually take? would it blow up if it was too loud?

never actually tried going to full volume...
*btw im a noob with all this audio stuff

our speakers cant handle that much, i dont know the numbers

I would just replace your speakers, that is the very next thing on my list...youll get better sound and they can handle more watts.

If the speakers are anything like all of the other cars speakers that I have changed then they are just dinky paper cones and they suck

They are some of the best stock speakers in any car. They can handle the maximum volume the stock deck puts out. They don't even sound bad at that volume either. I have the S&S though, the lower of the line system might not be as good.

If you don't have the S&S package, then I would highly recommend you change out your speakers. You will instantly notice an improvement in sound. The baske speakers in any Lancer are just like any other factory speaker: paper cones that are made to be driven to very high levels with meager power (in order to save money on the amplifiers within stock head units). I'm guessing that you don't have the S&S because you didn't mention the soundgate/metra connector or the Infinity Amp that the S&S folks have under the passenger seat.

But I agree, the S&S speakers are great for being part of a 'factory' option. They're very balanced and can handle just about anything thrown at them, and still reproduce it fairly accurately.

Go with CDT's they are the best speakers ... in the world.

just get a 125w amp (Pheonix gold for shiny looks or Arc Audio for just quality)
and push them to the max since they're rated at 150w.

Then grab some Adire Audio Brahma II's, best linear spl throw in the world.

1600WRMS per sub. 2 12's and those CDT's you'll be pushin about oh, 3450WRM maxxed out.

I Really want a DVD Navigation setup but, the way our dash is setup it would block the clock/ a/c vents / hazard signals.

But Eclipse Head units make the "BEST" quality cd player.

but for navigation i can use this

But i'm pretty sure i'm going to fabricate this in the dash.

has an internal 20 gig hdd. Records your music the first time it plays and keeps it on, and it can be upgraded. My one friend put a 25 gig'er in.

So

CDT's, Eclipse Head Unit, audiobahn subs, Pheonix Gold Subs.

Great Great Setup.

The speakers can handle it, just that the car has so many funkin rattles with any amount of bass. I would hate to have a big sub in this car it would be a rattle fest.

I changed out the tweeters when I replaced my whole system. I fit 1" tweeters in there just fine. However, you can't use the stock mounts because the stock tweeters seem permanently attached to them. I had to drill holes into the A pillar to use the mounts that came with the new tweeters. There might be another way.

Even the $150 ones are great.

CDT's are Like Adire Audio, Premium Products, not so popular.

I gaurentee 2 CDT's, 2 tweeters, 2 Adire audio Subs and you'll be boomin.
