Volume Limitation on Stock Stereo
Volume Limitation on Stock Stereo
Hi, I have a DE with the stock sound system. I noticed that the volume maxes out at 45, but im sure the speakers can handle more cuz its not very loud, especially when the windows are down. Does anyone know how to bypass this limitation? Thanks....

Honestly, all you need is an aftermarket head unit. Stock ones are never terribly strong. Both of my last two cars saw massive improvements by adding a cheap Pioneer head unit.

That's because you aren't used to hearing it...anything going from quiet to kind of loud seems much louder. Like when you put your headphones on and then start your mp3 player, it sounds really loud, but when you take it away from your ears, it's not loud at all.
The limitations put on the stock system are put there to protect the speakers from blowing. On my system with nav and sun/sound it starts to sound bland after i get to 30. After that not much volume changes. What you need is an amp. Leave the factory stereo, throw an amp in the trunk and you will get all the volume you want. And it will sound 100x better. Even if you leave the stock speakers.
IMO don't change the deck unless you want Nav or something.. And still add the amp.
